AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY CQUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 174 (ZONING ORDINANCE); GRANTING
A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT FOR OIL WELL DRILLING AND RELATED STRUCTURES
BY THE CROWN CENTRAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION; ACCEPTING AND ADOPTING
THE FINDINGS OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE
OF TEXAS, that:
WHEREAS, The question of granting a Special Use Permit in this
ordinance was referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission to ho1d a
pub1ic hearing thereon; and
WHEREAS, Such a public hearing was held, after due public notice,
in the manner provided by Ordinance No. 174 of the City of Friendswood and
by the statutes of the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, The Planning and Zoning Commission has made a report� con-
taining findings of fact and recommending the granting of such Specific Use
Permit:
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the City Council of the City pf
Friendswood, Texas:
A Specific Use, according to the authorizations and limitations set
forth in Section 9 of Ordinance No. 174 is hereby granted to the Crown Central
Petroleum Corporation to drill an oil well and construct related structures
on the premises described as:
A 12.1 acre tract out of the BS&F Survey No. 5, Galveston County,
Texas and being more particularly described by metes and bounds as
follows: BEGINNING at the Southeast corner of that certain tract
of land described in Deed from C. B. Kimmins to �. R. McDaniel by
Deed dated August 29, 1923 and recorded in Vol . 357 at Page 389 in
the Office of the County Clerk of Galveston County, Texas, same being
the Southwest corner of George Van Pelt Subdivision; THENCE from said
beginning corner North 9° 09' 24" East, a1ong the East line of said
13.1 acre tract and the West line of said Van Pelt Subdivision, a
distance of 574.12 feet to a point for corner; THENCE North 88° 05'
West, along the North line of said 13.1 acre tract and a1ong the
South line of Berkley Tract (117/226) and Yantis Tract (1123/294)
a distance of 783.78 feet to a point for corner in the Easterly
right-of-way line of F.M. 528; THENCE South 32° 39' 28" West, along
said Easterly right-of-way �ine of F.M. 528, a distance of 699.42
feet to a point for corner in the North line of the Durant 16.5 acre
tract; THENCE South 89° 45' 32" East, along the South line of said
13.1 acre tract and along the North line of said Durant Tract, a
distance of 1069.41 feet to the place of beginning, containing 13.1
acres of land, more or less.
such property presently existing in an R-1 district, and such Specific Use
is subject to the following conditions: Such Specific Use Permit shall
not allow a violation or variation from other ordinances of the City of
Friendswood pertaining to building permits, construction requirements, or
other provisions set forth in Ordinance No. 174.
The findings and recommendations of the Planning and Zoning Com-
mission on the question of granting a Specific Use Permit to the Crown
Central Petroleum Corporation are hereby accepted and adopted and made a
part of this ordinance.
