HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 193 ORDINANCE N0. 193 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY GOUNGIL OF TH.E CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS: Section One: That there is hereby levied and there shall be col1ected for the use and support of the municipal government of the City of Friends- wood, Texas for the year nineteen hundred and seventy-three, upon a11 property, real, persona1 and mixed, within the corporate limits of the said City subject to taxation, a tax of ONE DOLLAR ($1 .00) on each ONE HUNDRED ($100.OQ) DOLLARS valuation of property. Said property valuation sha11 be SIXTY PERCENT (60%) of actual market valuey based upon the present tax roll , and said tax shall be so levied for the specific purposes herein set forth: (1) For the maintenance and support of the genera1 government (General Fund) 85 % (2) For the retirement and expenses of the Municipal Uti�ities Bonds (Interest and Sinking Fund) 15 % Section Two: That the Assessor and Collector of Taxes, the City Treasurer, and the City Secretary shall keep an account of all monies collected under this ordinance for the specific items herein named, so as to readily and distinctly show the amount on hand at any time belonging to such fund. It is hereby made the duty of the Tax Assessor and Collector and every person collecting money for the City of Friendswood, to deliver to the City Treasurer and the City Secretary at the time of depositing any monies, a statement showing such deposits have been made and from what source received. Section Three: There is hereby declared to exist an emergency re- quiring the passage of this ordinance prior to the beginning of the October 1 Fiscal Year.
