HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 1696-A ORDINANCE N0. 169-A (Amending Ord. #99) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1220, PARAGRAPH (f) OF ORDINANCE N0. 99, KNOWN NS THE ELECTRICAL CODE ORDIPJANCE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a review of Section 1220, Paragraph (f) of Ordinance No. 99 of the City of Friendswood, Texas, has determined that certain provisions thereunder are not in the best interest of the health and safety of the citizens, residents� and inhabitants of this City, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION I. Section 1220, Paragraph (f) , Ordinance No. 99, which describes the term "conductor" previously read as follows:. [(f) For the purpose of this ordinance the term conductor ] [shall be taken to mean of copper or aluminum but the use ] [of aluminum shall be restricted to lighting circuits, ] [control and signal circuits only. Connector for a7uminum] [conductors shall be in accordance with the National ] [Electrical Code. The pressure type (Buchanan) shall not ] [be used on aluminum conductors. ] is hereby amended to read as follows: �f) Anythinq in the National Electrical Code or elsewhere in this Ordinance to the contrar� notwithstandin_ , aluminum con- ductors ma not be used for inside wirin other than for feeder circuits of #4 size conductors or lar er, and on t en if the be installed in continuous racewa s with lated com- press�on termination connections w�t approve a um�num �oint compounded for use on aluminum conductors. SECTION II, All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict only. SECTION III . If any provision of this ordinance� or the application thereof to any person or circumstances, is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, and the application of such provision to other persons or circumstances, shall not be affected thereby. SECTION IV. This Ordinance shall be and become effective immediately upon passage of third reading by the City Council . PASSED and APPROVED on first reading this the 24th day of July , 1972.
