AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES FOR THE USE AND SU�PORT OF THE
MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS:
Section One: That there is hereby levied and there shall be collected
for the use and support of the municipal government of the City of Friendswood,
Texas for the year nineteen hundred and seventy-one, upon all property; real ,
personal and mixed, within the corporate limits of the said City subject to
taxation; a tax of ONE DOLLAR ($1 .00) on each ONE HUNDRED ($100.00) DOLLARS
valuation of property, said property valuation shall be SIXTY PERCENT (60%)
of actual market value, based upon the present tax ro71, said tax being so
levied for the specific purposes herein set forth:
(1 ) For the maintenance and support of the general government
(General Fund).
(2) For the retirement and expenses of the Municipal Utilities
Bonds (Interest and Sinking Fund) .
Section Two: All monies collected under this ordinance for the specific
items herein named, that the Assessor and Collector of taxes, the City Treasurer -
and the City Secretary shall keep an account so as to readi7y and distinctly
show the amount on hand at any time belonging to such fund; it is hereby made
the duty of the Tax Assessor and Collector of taxes and every person collecting
money for the City of Friendswood, to deliver to the City Treasurer and the
City Secretary at the time of depositing any monies, a statement showing such
deposits have been made and from what source received.
Section Three: There is hereby declared to exist an emergency requiring
the passage of this ordinance prior to the beginning of the October 1 Fiscal
Year.
PASSED AND APPROVED AS AN EMERGENCY on this the 8th day of September, 1970.
PASSED AND APPROVED on First Reading on the 8th day of September, 1970.
AND APPROVED on Second Reading on the 21 day of September , 1970.
