HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 127 ORDINANCE N0. 127 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CHARGES FOR GARBAGE PICK-UP SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD; PROVIDING THAT GARBAGE CHARGES BE DEBITED TO EACH ACTIVE WATER METER ACCOUNT; PROVIDING FOR DISCONTINUANCE OF WATER SERVICE FOR FAILURE TO PAY GARBAGE CHARGES; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DULY ASSEMBLED: Charges for the pick-up of garbage in Friendswood, Texas are hereby set as follows: Section I. MONTHLY CHARGES For a single family residence, two pick-ups per week . . . . . . $3.00 For duplex, triplex, garage apartment, two pick-ups per week (per uni t). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $3.00 Section II . MINIMUM RATES Charges are minimum rates and will be debited to each water meter account during the time said account is active Section III. COMMERCIAL RATES Commercial rates are to be determined by the same standard as in Ordinance No. 61 . Section IV. FAILURE TO PAY GARBAGE CHARGES The above charges which shall be debited to each water meter account shall render said water meter account delinquent if not paid with the water bill on a monthly basis. Failure to pay such garbage charge shall be a violation of this ordinance and the City of Friendswood may discontinue water service for such violation. Section V. DISCONTINUANCE OF WATER SERVICE Discontinuance of water service for failure to pay garbage charges shall not be construed as a criminal penalty and no notice and hearing shall be required for persons violating the provisions hereof. ' � ' G, inance No. }2� p ` . . . - Page 2 - Section VI. CONFLICT All ordinances, resolutions or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict only. Section VII. EMERGENCY There is hereby declared to exist an emergency, to wit: Provision for adequate garbage service for the citizens of Friendswood and this ordinance is passed, approved and adopted as an emergency measure and shall remain in full force and effect for sixty days from the date of passage.
