HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 115 . . � , ' . � SPEED ZONE ORDINANCE N0. 115 AN ORDINANCE ALTERING THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ESTABLISHED FOR VEHICLES UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 6701D, VERNON'S TEXAS CIVIL STATUTES, UPON THE BASIS OF AN ENGINEERING AND TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION, UPON CERTAIN STREETS AND NIGHWAYS, OR PARTS THEREOF, WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF FRIENDS- WOOD, AS SET OUT IN THIS ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING A VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, Article 6701D, of Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, pro- vides that whenever the governing body of the City shall determine upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that any prima facie speed therein set forth is greater or less than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist at any intersection or other place or upon any part of a street or highway within the City, taking into consideration the width and condition of the pavement and other circum- stances on such portion of said street or highway, as well as the usual traffic thereon, said governing body may determine and declare a reasonable and safe prima facie speed limit thereat or thereon by the passage of an ordinance, which shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected at such intersection or other place or part of the street or highway, now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: Section ] . Upon the basis of an enqineering and traffic investi- gation heretofore made as authorized by the provisions of Article 6701D, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, the following prima facie speed limits hereaf ter indicated for vehicles are hereby determined and declared to be reasonable and safe; and such speed limits are hereby fixed at the rate of speed indicated for vehicles traveling upon the named streets and highways, or parts thereof, described as follows: TWENTY (20) MILES PER HOUR (a) Along Mary Ann Drive from a point 150 feet north of Castle Lake Drive to another point 300 feet sough of Stadium Drive, a distance of approximately 3 tenths of a mile, 20 miles� per hour. (b) Along Stadium Drive and Stadium Lane from F.M.2351 to Stone- ledge Drive, a distance of approximately 5 tenths of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (c) Along E. Stadium Court from Stadium Lane to the end of the cul-de-sac, a distance of approximately .05 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (d) Along Stadium Circle, from Stadium Lane to the end of cul-de-sac a distance of approximately .05 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (e) Along W. Stadium Court from Stadium Lane to the end of the cul- de-sac, a distance of approximately .05 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (f) Along Stoneledge Drive from Stadium Lane to Chelsea Lane, a distance of approximately 3 tenths of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (g) Along Belmar Lane, from Stoneledge Drive to Mary Ann Drive, a distance of approximately 3 tenths of a mile, 20 miles per hour. -2- (h) Along Avondale Lane, from Mary Ann Drive to Castle Lake Drive, a distance of approximately 2 tenths of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (i ) Along Castle Lake Drive, from Stoneledge Drive to Mary Ann Drive, a distance of approximately .35 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (j) Along Portage Lane, from Castle Lake Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, a distance of approximately 1 tenth of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (k) Along Castle Lake Drive from Mary Ann Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, a distance of approximately 1 tenth of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (1 ) Along Kingsbury Lane, from North Castle Lake Drive to West Castle Lake Drive, a distance of approximately .15 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (m) Along Stratmore Drive from F.M. 518 to Castle Lake Drive, a distance of approximately 3 tenths of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (n) Along Brendon Park Lane, from Stratmore Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, a distance of approximately .05 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (o) Along Brandywyne Drive from F.M. 518 to Stoneledge Drive, a distance of approximately .45 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (p) Along Chelsea Lane from F.M. 518 to a point 200 feet west of Stoneledge Drive, a distance of .25 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (q) Along British Woods Lane, from Stoneledge Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, a distance of approximately .05 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (r) Along Lockmoor Lane, from Chelsea Lane to the dead end of Lock- moor, a distance of approximately 1 tenth of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (s) Along Merribrook Lane, from Chelsea Lane to dead end of Merribrook Lane, a distance of approximately 1 tenth of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (t) Along Camelot Lane, from Chelsea Lane to the dead end of Camelot Lane, a distance of approximately 1 tenth of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (u) Along Huntington Lane from Chelsea Lane to Brandywyne Drive, a distance of approximately 2 tenths of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (v) Along Stonehenge Lane, from Huntington Lane to Brandywyne Drive, a distance of approximately 2 tenths of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (w) Along Dover Lane, from Huntington Lane to Brandywyne Drive, a distance of approximately .15 of a mile, 20 miles per hour. (x) Along Whitehall Lane, from Huntington Lane to the end of the cul-de-sac, a distance of approximately 1 tenth of a mile, 20 miles per hour. Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance sha17 be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) . -3- Section 3. Any person violating the terms of this ordinance may be arrested by officers or auxiliary officers of the Police Department of the City of Friendswood without issuance of a warrant of arrest from a magistrate. Section 4. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or circumstances, is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, and the application of such provision to other persons or circumstances, shall not be affected thereby.
