AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS, MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS; SETTING
FORTH A PETITION FOR -�NNEXATION OF CER-
TAIN INHABITED TERRITORY; RECEIVING AND
ANNEXING AS A PART OF SAID CITY THE SAID
TERRITORY LYING ADJACENT TO THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS:
WHEREAS, ON THE 19th day of June, A. D. 1967, there was filed with
the Mayor of the City of Friendswood, Texas, the following instrument:

WE, the undersigned, each being inhabitants, residents and qualified
voters in the territory described in the accompanying petition, hereby file
said petition with the Honorable Mayor of the City of Friendswood, Texas, and
request that a hearing date be fixed in keeping with the prwisions of Article 970a
Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, that notice of such hearing be given as provided
therein, that such hearing be held, and that an opportunity be given to all inter-
ested persons to be heard on the merits of this proposed annexation and that
this petition be in all things granted and the territory described therein be annexed
to the City of Friendswood, and the inhabitants therein be entitled to all the rights
and privileges of other citizens of the City of Friendswood, Texas.
Filed this 19th day of June, 1967, to certify which we hereby affix our

A PETITION FOR ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY
TO CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS
THE STATE OF TEXAS )
COUNTY OF GALVESTON )
_ TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS:
We, the undersigned persons who voted for annexation, each
being an inhabitant of the territory hereinafter described by
metes and bounds , and being a majority of the qualified voters of
such territory, acting pursuant to the provisions of Article 974 ,
Vernon' s Texas Civil Statutes, as amended, respectively petition
your Honorable Body to annex the territory herein described to
the City of Friendswood, Texas . In support of this petition,
the undersigned persons who voted for annexation would respectfully
show the following:
I .
That the territory to be annexed is situated wholly within
Galveston County, Texas, �.d�joins and is adjacent to the City of
Friendswood, is not more than one-half mile in width, and is
described by metes and bounds as follows :
BEGI��IidG at the South corner of AnnAlea Subdivision, Section One (Re-Plat) , said
poiut lying in the Westerly City Limits of Friendswood, Texas as initially
incorporated by order of the County Judge of Galveston County, dated November l,
1960, said point also lying in the Northwesterly line of the Eignus Subdivision�
THENCE; from said beginning point in a Northeasterly direction, along and with
the Southeasterly line of said AnnAlea, Section One (Re-Plat) , said line also
being the Northwesterly line of the Eignus Subdivision and the Sarah V. Pearson
26.9 acre tract, and the Northeasterly projection of said line to a point for
corner in the Northeasterly right of way line of F.�1. No. 518;
THENCE; in a Westerly direction, along the Northeasterly rigl�t of way line of
F.M. No. 518 to a point for corner being the intersection of said Northeasterly
right of way line of F.�1. No. 518 and the Southwesterly projection of the
common line between Lots 3 and 4 of the Hoidale and Coffman Subdivision, in the
Perry and Austin League;
THENCE; in a NorCheasterly direction, along the Southwesterly projection of the
common line between said Lots 3 and 4 of the Hoidale and Coffman Subdivision and
the common line between said Lots 3 and 4 to a point for corner being the most
Northerly corner of said Lot 3;
THENCE; in a Northwesterly direction, along the common line between Lots 4 and 17

THENCE; in a Southwesterly direction, along the common line between Lots 4 and

THENCE; in a Easterly direction, along the Northeasterly right of way line of
F.M. No. 518 to a point for corner being the intersection of said Northeasterly
right of way line of F.M. No. 518 with the Northeasterly projection of the
Northwest line of AnnAlea Subdivision, Section One (Re-Plat) ;
THENCF.; in a Southwesterly direction, along the �ortheasterly projection of the
rdorthwest line of AnnAlea Subnivision, Section One (Re-Plat) and along ttie
Norttiwesterly line of said AnnAlea Subdivision, Section One (Re-Plat) to a point
for corner being the West corner of said AnnAlea Subdivision, Section One (Re-Plat) ;
THENCE; in a Southeasterly direction, along the Southwesterly line of AnnAlea
Subdivision, Section One (Re-Plat) to the South corner of said AnnAlea Subdivision,
Section One (Re-Plat) being the Place of Beginning.

II .
That each of the undersigned persons who voted for annexatian
is an inhabitant , resident , and qualified voter of the territory
described herein.
III .
That no part of the territory described herein is within the
City limits, or the extraterritorial jurisdiction, as that terrn
is used in Article 970a, Vernon' s Texas Civil Statutes , of any
incorporated city, town or village except the City of Friendswoocl,
Texas , and all of said territory may be properly annexed to the
City of Friendswood.
IV.
That each inhabitant , resident and qualified voter in the
territory herein described was given an opportunity to express
his choice and vote on the question of the annexation of such
territory to the City of Friendswood, Texas , by affixing his
signature under the appropriate column at the end of this petition.
WHEREFORE, the undersigned persons who voted for annexation
respectfully pray that this petition be filed with the Mayor
of the City of Friendswood, Texas, and that it be set down for
hearing at a date to be fixed in keeping with the provisions
of Article 970a, Vernon' s Texas Civil Statutes , that notice of
such hearing be given as provided therein, that such hearing be
held, and that an opportunity be given to all interested persons
to be heard on the merits of this proposed annexation and that
this petition be in all things granted and the territory des-
cribed herein be annexed to the City, and the inhabitants thereof

And whereas on the 19th day of June, 1967, RALPH L. LOWE, Mayor
of the City of Friendswood, Texas, certified to the City Council of the City of
Friendswood, Texas, the following:

I, RALPH L. LOWE, the duly elected and qualified Mayor of the City
of Friendswood, Texas, do hereby certify that on the _/�day of June, A. D.
1967, there was filed with me as Mayor of said city, true and correct copies
of the following instruments:
1) Petition for Annexation
2) Certificate of Election in the Territory to be Annexed
3) Affidavit Showing a Majority of the Residents of the
Adjoining Territory Favoring Annexation
That an examination of the above described instruments and petition
revealed that an election was held in the herein described territory adjoininng

the City of Friendswood, Texas, on the ,°�day of 3�e, A. D. 1967 and that
a majority of the residents who were and are qualified to vote for members of
the State Legislature did vote in favor of the annexation of the territory des-
cribed in the petition to the City of Friendswood, and that said petition and
Certificate of Election were properly filed and certified to me as the Mayor of
the City of Friendswood, Texas.
That the aforementioned territory adjoining the City of Friendswood,
Texas, is now legally susceptible of annexation to the City of Friendswood,
upon the passage and approval of a proper ordinance.

WHEREAS, proper notice of such time and place of the hearing on the
proposed annexation was published in accordance with the requirements of
law; and
WHEREAS, several interested persons appeared before the City Council
of the City of Friendswood and presented evidence in regard to the feasibility
and practicability of the annexation of such territory to the City, and
WHEREAS, the hearing has been completed and every person who de-
sired to be heard has been given a full opportunity to present evidence on the
advantages or disadvantages of such annexation;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas deems
it desirable and to the best interest of this city to annex said territory to the
City of Friendswood, Texas;
THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DULY ASSEMBLED:
Section I: The City Council finds that all of the above mentioned instru-
ments were properly filed and presented and that said instruments, having been
filed with the City Secretary of the City of Friendswood, Texas, by RALPH L.
LOWE, the Mayor thereof, together with his Certificate on the 19th day of June,
A. D. 1967, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, having examined the same
and having inquired into the facts and circumstances surrounding all of said pro-
ceedings and being fully advised of the premises, hereby finds thatall of the state-
ments therein contained are true and correct and that the procedure initiated, pros-
ecuted and concluded by the inhabitants of said territory was, in all respects pro-
per in keeping with the laws of this State prescribing such procedure and that there
has been performed and consumated every legal pre-requisite necessary to a
valid and effectual election and petition for annexation of said territory as a part
of the City of Friendswood, Texas.
Section II: The City Council finds as a fact that a majority of the inhabit-
ants residing in said territory who are qualified to vote for Members of the State
Legislature, have duly and regularly cast their vote in favor of said annexation. �
Section III: That said territory described in said proceedings lies ad-
jacent and contiguous to the City of Friendswood and does not at any place extend
one half mile or more in width from the boundaries of said City and does not lie
within the extra territorial juxisdiction of any other municipal corporation of the
State of Texas.
Section IV: There is hereby received and annexed as a part of the City
of Friendswood, Texas, the following territory, being the same as described in
the Petition for Annexation hereinabove set forth and being more particularly des-
cribed as folluws:

Section V: That said territory and the inhabitants thereof shall hereafter
have and enjoy all the rights, privileges and obligations incident to and flowing
with the annexation of said territory and its incorporation in and within the corp-
orate limits of the City of Friendswood, Texas, according to requirements set
forth in Article 974 of Vernon's Annotated Texas Statutes.
Section VI: The corporate limits of the City of Friendswood, Texas are
hereby extended so as to include and there is hereby included within said corporate
limits, the above described territory.
Section VII: This Ordinance shall take effect ixnmediately upon its final
passage and approval by the Mayor and thenceforth said territory shall be and re-
main a part of the City of Friendswood, Texas, as fully and to all intents and pur-
poses as if said territory were included within the corporate limits of the said
City of Friendswood, Texas, as originally incorporated.
