HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 51A - r ORDINANCE NO.. 51-A AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 51 ABSORBING THE GALVESTON COUNTY WATER CONTROL AND IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO.15 AS SET FORTH IN ARTICLE 1182c V.T.C. S. PASSED NOVEMBER 2, 1904; SETTING THE EFFECTIVE DATE AS NOVEMBER 30,1964. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS DULY ASSEMBLIED: SECTION ONE That all outstanding legal indebtness and all outstanding bonds and interest unpaid thereon, shall be assumed and paid by said city, such outstanding indebtness and all such outstanding bonds and interest unpaid thereon are hereby declared to be the legal indebtness of Friendswood, Texas and for the payment thereof, said city hereby levies such taxes as shall be necessary each succeeding year, to pay the maturing bonds and interest coupons, and to provide a sinking fund for the retirement of such bonds, in accordance with State Law; that this ordinance shall not operate to abolish or impair any of, the contractual rights of the holders of said bonds or other evidences of indebtness issued or incurred by the Galveston County Water Control and Improvement District No. 15. SECTION TWO That all properties and assets of the Galveston County Water Control and Improvement District No. 15 shall become the property of the City of Friendswood, Texas. That all the prescribed Rules, Rates and Regulations .as set forth by the Galveston County Water Control and Improvement District No. 15 shall continue in effect. SECTION THREE If any clause. -phrase, sentence, paragraph, section or provision , of this ordinance or the application thereof to any particular person or thing, is held to be invalid, such invalidity shall hot affect the remainder of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any other person or thing. SECTION FOUR The City Council deems it advisable that the rule requiring ordinances to be read three separate and several days be suspended, and accordingly, the rule is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage and approval.
