HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 50 lit " ORDINANCE NO. 50 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, RECEIVING AND ANNEXING AS A PART OF THE SAID CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, THE FOLLOWING TERRITORY LYING AND ADJACENT TO THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DULY ASSEMBLED: SECTION ONE: WHEREAS, on the 19th day of September there was filed with the Mayor of the City of Friendswood, Texas the following instrument: (1) Petition for Annexation; (2) Certificate of Election in the Territory Sought Annexed; (3) Affidavit showing a Majority of the Residents of the Adjoining Territory Favoring Annexation. SECTION TWO: There is accordingly hereby received and annexed as a part of the City of Friendswood, Texas the following described territory, to-wit: An area of 353.90 acres, more or less, in the Austin &Perry League and Sarah McKissick League, outside of the City Limits of the City of Friendswood, Galveston County, Texas, and containing the area inside of the Galveston County Water Control and Improvement District Number Fifteen, Friendswood, Galveston County, Texas, and outside of the present City Limits of the City of Friendswood and more particularly described as follows; BEGINNING at the intersection of the Southeast line of Ellington Drive (Choate Road) and the North- west extension of the Northeast line of the Central Park Subdivision, said intersection being on the boundary line of the Galveston County Water Control and Improvement District No. 15, boundary, for a corner; THENCE Northwest along the Northeast extension of the Northeast line of the Central Park Subdivision, a distance of 2,640 feet for a corner; THENCE Northeast along a projection of the Northwest Lines of Blocks 4, 17 and 24 in the E. Hoidale and Coffman Subdivision, a distance of 3,750 feet, more or less, to the intersection of the West right of way line of the Texas Farm to Market Road No. 518, for a corner; THENCE Northwesterly along the West right of way line of Texas Farm to Market Road No. 518, a distance of 1,540 feet more or less, to a point in the said West right of way line of Texas Farm to Market Road No. 518 being at the intersection of a line parallel to and 40 feet Northwest of the Northwest line of Blocks 5 and 16 in the E. Hoidale and Coffman Sub- division; for corner; THENCE Northeast along said line parallel to and 40 feet Northwest of the Northwest line of Blocks 5 and 16, a distance of 2,075 feet, more or less, to a point of intersection with the Northwest projection of the Northeast line of Melody Lane in Block 26 of the E. Hoidale and Coffman Subdivision, for a corner; THENCE Southeast along the Northeast line of Melody Lane a distance of 750 feet, more or less, to the inter- section of the Southwest corner of Block Win the E. Hoidale and Coffman Subdivision, for corner; THENCE Northeast along the Northwest lines of Blocks 24 and 37 and a Northeast extension thereto, a distance of 4,400 feet, more or less, to the intersection of the Southwest line of the City of Friendswood' s 100 foot strip for corner; THENCE Southwesterly along the said Southwest line of the City of Friendswood ' s 100 foot strip, paralleling the meanders of Clear Creek, to the intersection of the City Limits line on Ellington Drive (Choate Road); THENCE Southerly along the City Limits of the City of Friendswood, a distance of 2,500 feet, more or less, to the intersection of the Southwest right of way line I of Melody Lane, or Southeast projection thereof, for corner; THENCE Northwesterly along the Southwest right of way of Melody Lane, a distance of 3,350 feet, more or less, to the North corner of Block 16 in the E. Hoidale and Coffman Subdivision, for a corner; THENCE Southwesterly along the Northwest lines of Blocks 16 and 5, and a Southwestward extension thereof, a distance of 2,000 feet, more or less, to the inter- section of the East right of way line of Texas Farm to Market Road No. 518 for a corner; THENCE Southeasterly along the East right of way line of Texas Farm to Market Road No. 518, a distance of 750 feet, more or less, toa point of intersection with a Northeast projection of the North corner of a 12,789 acre tract in Section I of the Annalea Subdivision, annexed to the City under Ordinance No. 32; THENCE_Southwesterl�alono the said Northeast grojectiori an4 alnna th Tinri:}i hniinriary ��n aai-r� °�4 arra tract as described in Ordinance No. 32 of the City of Friendswood to the Southwest corner of the Annalea Subdivision, Section I. for a corner; THENCE Southeasterly along the Southwest line of the Annalea Subdivision, Section I, a distance of 320.4 feet, more or less, to a corner in the Friendswood City Limits, for a corner; -t THENCE Westerly along the Northwest City Limits of the City of Friendswood to a Northwest corner in the City Limits located in the Eignus Subdivision, for a corner; THENCE Southeastward along the West City Limits of the City of Friendswood to the intersection of the center line of Ellington Drive (Choate Road); THENCE Southwesterly along the centerline of Ellington Drive (Choate Road) to the West corner of Lot 2 in the Friendswood Subdivision for a corner; THENCE Southeast along the West line of said Lot 2 in the Friendswood Subdivision to the Southeast line of Ellington Drive (Choate Road), for a corner; THENCE Southwest along the Southeast line of Ellington Drive to the intersection of the Northwest extension of the Northeast line of the Central Park Subdivision, for a corner and point of Beginning; SECTION THREE The corporate limits of the City of Friendswood, Galvest6n County, Texas are hereby extended and enlarged so as to include within said corporate limits the above described territory. SECTION FOUR This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor and thence forth said territory shall be and remain part of the City of Friendswood, Texas as fully and all intents and purposes as if said territory were included within the corporate limits of the City of Friendswood as origi- nally incorporated. WAGNER , the duly elected and qualified Mayor of the City of Friendswood, Texas, do hereby certify that on the /day of there was filed with me as Mayor of said City, the following instruments : 1) Petition for Annexation; 2) Certificate of Election in the Territory Sought Annexed-; 3) Affidavit showwing a Majority of the Residents of the Adjoining Territory Favoring Annexation. That an examination of the above described instruments and petition reveal that an election was held in the herein described territory adjoining the City of Friendswood, Texas, on the IQ day of / ZQ., A. D. 1964, and that a majority of the residents who were and are entitled and qualified to votei for members of the State Legislature did vote in favor of the annexation of the territory described in the petition to the City of Friendswood, and properly filed and certified such action to me as the Mayor of the City of Friendswood, Texas.
