HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 44 ORDINANCE No. 44 l AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TIME AND MANNER OF PAYING, THE AD VALOREM TAXES LEVIED FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the ad valorem taxes hereafter levied by the governing body of the City of Friendswood, Texas each year shall become due on the first day of October of the year for which the ' levy is made and may be paid up to and including the following January 31st, without penalty, but if not so paid such .taxes shall become delinquent on the following day, February 1st, and the following penalty of TEN (10%) PERCENT shall be charged. Such unpaid taxes shall bear interest at the rate of SIX (6%) PERCENT per annum from February Ist of the year next succeeding the year for which such taxes were levied or assessed. SECTION 2, Unpaid taxes for the assessment year 1964 and all prior years shall be considered delinquent as of February 1st of the year next succeeding the year for which such taxes were levied or assessed and shall be subject to a penalty of TEN (10%) PERCENT and interest at the rate of SIX (6%) PERCENT per annum from the date of their delinquency. THERE IS HEREBY declared to be an emergency within the limits of the City of Friendswood, and, the requirements for reading this ordinance on three separate days having been waived by a majority vote of the City Council, the same is passed , approved and adopt- ed on this the 3rd day of August, 1964,A.D„ and shall become effective immediately upon publication as presented by law.
