BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DULY ASSEMBLED: SECTION l. Previously Section 1 of Ordinance No. 35 of the City of Friendswood, Texas (known as the Planning and Zon- ing Commission Ordinance) read as follows: ["That there is hereby created and established ] [for the City of Friendswood, Texas, a planning ] [and zoning commission, which shall be composed ] [of five (5) members. The members shall be resi- ] [dent citizens, taxpayers and qualified voters of ] [the City, all of whom shall be appointed by the ] [Mayor subject to confirmation by the governing ] [body, (City Council) , to serve for the terms of ] [three (3) years, All vacancies shall be filled ] [for the unexpired term in the same manner as ] [provided for the original appointments and in ] [the same manner. Members of the Commission may ] [be removed by the Mayor, with the consent of the ] [City Council, after public hearing and for cause ] [assigned in writing. The members of the Commis- ] [sion shall serve without compensation. ] SECTION 2. The said Section 1 of Ordinance No. 35 is here- by amended to read as follows : There is hereby continued for the City of Friendswood, Texas, a Planning and Zonin Commission composed of five (5) members. Such members shall be resident citizens, tax-payers, and qualified voters of the City all of whom shall be a pointed by the Mayor, sub ' ect to confirmation bv a ma 'ority vote of the City Council. Beginning immediately upon the passa e of this Ordinance, appointments of all five members shall be confirmed for terms of office as follows: (a) Effective November 1, 1970, three (3) members will begin serving three (3) year terms endin October 31, 1973. ` 3 ' _ � Page 2, Rev �:d 12/3/70 �RG)` (b) Effective November 1 , 1970, two (2� members wi11 begin serving two (2) year terms ending October 31, 1972. At the expiration of the terms of office as stated in (a) and (b) above, all vacancies caused by expiration of terms shall be filled for terms of three (3) years. In all cases the appointments shall be made by the Mayor with confirmation of a majority vote of the City Council . Any member of the City Planning and Zoning Commission may be removed for cause by the Mayor with consent of the City Counci1 , after opportunity for public hearing. Any member, after notice of pub7ic hearing, may waive his opportunity for public hearing at any time prior to such hearing. All vacancies for unexpired terms caused by either resignation, death, or removal shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by appointment made by the Mayor with the confirmation of a majority vote of the City Council .
