AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING IN ITS ENTIRETY THE PROVISIONS OF THE
SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE, 1960-61 REVISION AS PUBLISHED
BY THE SOUTHERN BUILDING CODE CONGRESS, PROVIDING FOR A PEN-
ALTY IN VIOLATION THEREOF AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1:
That the Southern Standard Building Code, 1960-61 Revisiion, as
published by the Southern Building Code Congress , is hereby adopted in its
entirety by reference, one or more copies of which Building Code are
placed on file with the Secretary of the City of Friendswood, Texas , which
Code is open for information and inspection of all interested parties.
SECTION 2:
That from and after the date of this Ordinance, its passage and pubLica-

tion, all persons, firms and corporations shall be bound by the provisions
and obligations of said Southern Standard Building Code, 1960-61 Revision,
which is hereby adopted by reference, to the same extent as though it was
included in this Ordinance in its entirety and that any violation thereof shall
be subject to a penalty as hereinafter provided.
SECTION 3:
The City Secretary of the City of Friendswood, Texas , is hereby
authorized to procure and issue permits in accordance with the provisions
of said Southern Standard Building Code, upon payment of the fees as herein-
after provided.
SECTION 4: 1
Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance or any
provisions of the Southern Standard Building Code , 'shall be deemed guillty of
a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not

exceeding Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars,
SECTION 5:
The fact that there does not now exist an Ordinance regulating any
such procedure, the issuance of permits , or other provisions as outlined
in the Southern Standard Building Code, creates an emergency and an
imperative public necessity for the immediate preservation of the public
welfare and safety and in order to promote an orderly growth of the
community and the rule requiring that ordinances be read on the three
separate days before final passage thereof, be and the same is hereby
suspended and this Ordinance shall be effective from and after its passage

and approval and it is so ordered,
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 15th day of April, A. D. 1963.

in its regular session at the City Hall in the City of Friendswood, Texas ,

constituting a quorum , at which meeting the following proceedings were had
and held:
Councilman Greathouse introduced an Ordinance and moved the Chair-
man that it be passed. The Motion was seconded by Councilman Hatcher,
The said Ordinance was read in full and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing vote:

The Mayor announced that the Ordinance was passed.
