RESOLUTION NO. R2000-04
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A DESIGN CRITERIA MANUAL
CONTAINING SUBDIVISION IMPROVEMENT STANDARDS FOR ALL
DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
PURSUANT TO AUTHORITY CONTAINED IN APPENDIX B,
SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, AND CHAPTER 212 OF THE TEXAS LOCAL
GOVERNMENT CODE

WHEREAS, the city has determined that there is a need for comprehensive and concise
guidelines covering improvements constructed during the subdividing and development of
property within the City of Friendswood and its extraterritorial jurisdiction, and such is
authorized by the City's home rule powers and Texas Local Government Code Chapter 212; and
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood has reviewed its existing ordinances and
determined that due to legislative changes, changed circumstances in development practices, and
the city's desire to make its regulations as clear and concise as possible, a complete revision of
the subdivision ordinance and related regulations is in order, and has undertaken such revisions;
and
WHEREAS, during the revision of the subdivision regulations, the City has determined
that all related improvement standards and requirements should be incorporated into one
document, that is separate from the Subdivision Ordinance itself so as to allow for more timely
modifications if necessary; and
WHEREAS, attached hereto is a manual containing the minimum subdivision
improvement standards and for development within the City of Friendswood's jurisdiction.

These are only minimum requirements, and additional requirements may be imposed as
determined by the city;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS:
Section 1. Pursuant to the City of Friendswood Subdivision Ordinance, Appendix B
of the City Code of Ordinances, and Chapter 212 of the Texas Local Government Code, the City
Council hereby adopts the attached "Design Criteria Manual" as an official document of the City
of Friendswood and directs that the standards and related documents contained and referred to
therein shall control and determine the minimum standards for all subdivision related
improvements made in development or building within the City of Friendswood, Texas.
Section 2. The Director of Community Development is hereby directed to maintain
copies of the Design Criteria Manual and related documents and make them available upon
request, for a reasonable fee, to any individual who requests one. The Director is further directed
to evaluate and review such standards and make recommendations to Council from time to time
for revisions.
