A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE
RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 4, 2002,
REGARDING SIXTEEN (16) PROPOSITIONS RELATING TO THE
AMENDMENT OF THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY. �

WHEREAS, a special election was held in the City of Friendswood, Texas, on May 4,
2002, at which sixteen (16) propositions were submitted to the duly qualified, resident electors
of the City for their action thereon, relating to proposed amendments to the City's home rule
Charter; and
WHEREAS, there were cast at said special election 2544 votes, of which number there

WHEREAS, the above and foregoing totals are shown in the official election returns of
said special election heretofore submitted to the City Council and filed with the City Secretary;
and
WHEREAS, said special election was called and held in all respects under and in strict
conformity with the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas and of the United States; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS:
,Sect�cin?. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Resolution are
hereby found to be true and correct.
�ect�cL. The special election held in the City of Friendswood, Texas, on May 4,
2002, which is more fully described in the preamble of this Resolution, was called and notice
thereof was given in accordance with law. Only qualified, resident electors of the City voted
in the special election. Returns of the special election have been lawfully made by the proper
officials. The special election has resulted unfavorably to the adoption of Proposed
Amendment Nos. 9, 12, and 13 to the Home Rule Charter of the City with a majority of the
qualified voters voting at the special election having voted against Proposition Nos. 9, 13 and
14 submitted at such election; and the special election has resulted favorably to the adoption of
Proposed Amendment Nos. 1-8, 10-11, and 14-16 to the Home Rule Charter of the City with a
majority of the qualified voters voting at the special election having voted in favor of
Proposition Nos. 1-8, 10-11, and 14-16 submitted at such special election.
,5ection �. Proposed Amendment Nos. 1-8. 10-11, and 14-16, as approved and
adopted by a majority of the quali�ed voters voting at such special election, shall become a

part of the Charter of said City, and it is hereby declared that each of said amendments to said
Charter, as fully set out in the Resolution calling said charter amendment election, are hereby
adopted.
,�ect�c�. It is hereby found and determined that the NOTICE OF MEETING
relating to the regular meeting of the City Council at which this Resolution was considered and
the posting thereof, was proper and said notice and posting are hereby authorized, approved,
resolved, ratified, and confirmed.
