HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2003-49 RESOLUTION NO. R2003-49 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING KIMBALL W. BRIZENDINE, MAYOR, TO ACT AS THE CITY'S REPRESENTATIVE IN SEEKING ELIGIBLE GRANT FUNDS UNDER THE SAFE AND DRUG FREE SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES ACT FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005 ("GRANT"); AND AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF SUCH GRANT APPLICATION TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE OFFICE OF GOVERNOR. * * * * * � * � * * � * WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, finds it in the best interests of the citizens of the City that the School Resource Officer Program be operated for the 2005 fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the City Council designates the Mayor as the grantee's authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency; and WHEREAS, the City Council has agreed to provide applicable matching funds for the said project as required by the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act grant application; and WHEREAS, the City Council has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division funds, the City Council assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division in full; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: Section 1. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby found to be true and correct. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Friendswood approves submission of the grant application for the School Resource Officer Program to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division. Section 3. The City Council of the City of Friendswood specifically authorizes the Mayor to apply for, accept, reject, alter ar terminate the Grant.
