HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2015-13 RESOLUTION NO. 82015-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE MAY 09, 2015, CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD GENERAL ELECTION FOR THE POSITION OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL POSITIONS NO. 1 AND NO. 3. Whereas, on May 09, 2015, there was held within and throughout the territory of the City of Friendswood, Texas (the "City") an election (the "Election), for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, a copy of a sample ballot being attached as Exhibit "A" and it appearing from the returns duly and legally made, there were cast at the Election 1,129 ballots. Each voter received one (1) ballot for candidates from which each of the candidates received the following number of votes: MAYOR (Term expires May,2018) Kevin Holland 845 COUNCIL POSITION NO. 1 (Term expires May, 2018) Steve Rockey 666 Michael Wood 327 Philip Caltabiano 132 COUNCIL POSITION NO. 3 (Term expires May, 2018) Jim Hill 841 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: Section 1. The facts set forth in the preamble of this Resolution are true and correct. Section 2. The Election was duly called, Notice of the Election was given in accordance with law, the Election was held in accordance with law, and the following persons received a majority of all votes for the respective offices and was elected and is declared to be elected to the respective offices, subject to the taking of the Oath of Office as provided by the laws of the State of Texas and Article VI, Sections 6.04 and 6.05 of the City Charter: MAYOR Kevin Holland (Term expires May, 2018) COUNCIL POSITION NO. 1 Steve Rockey (Term expires May, 2018) COUNCIL POSITION NO. 3 Jim Hill (Term expires May,2018) Section 3. It is found that by virtue of all positions on the ballot receiving a majority of all votes for the respective offices, a runoff election is not required. Section 4. It is further found and determined that, in accordance with the order of the City Council, the City Secretary posted written notice of the date,time, place, and subject of this meeting on the bulletin board located in City Hall, a place convenient to the public, and said notice having been so posted preceding the date of this meeting. A copy of said posting shall be attached hereto as Exhibit`B." Section 5. All resolutions or parts of resolutions inconsistent or in conflict herewith are, to the extent of such inconsistency or conflict, hereby repealed. Resolution R2015-09: A resolution of the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, determining that land is needed for construction, installation, maintenance, operation, inspection, replacement, repair, and removal of certain public utility lines and paving improvements as part of the Whispering Pines Avenue/Friendswood Link Road project for the City of Friendswood, Texas; and authorizing the use of eminent domain power to condemn property for the Whispering Pines Ave./Friendswood Link Road Project. B. Resolution R2015-13: A resolution of the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, canvassing the returns of the May 09, 2015, City of Friendswood General Election for the position of Mayor and Council Positions No. 1 and No. 3. 9. Presentation of Certificates of Election 10. Oaths of Office The Honorable Judge Woltz will administer the Oath of Office for Mayor and Council Position No. 1 and Position No. 3 11. Ordinance Consideration and possible action regarding the following: A. Ordinance No. T2015-16: (Title: First and Final reading of an ordinance adopting Budget Amendment XI to the Original General Budget of the City for Fiscal Year 2014-2015 to provide for supplemental appropriation and/or transfer of certain funds) An ordinance amending City of Friendswood, Texas, Ordinance No. 2014-29, passed and approved October 6, 2014, same being an ordinance approving and adopting the City's General Budget for Fiscal Year 2014-2015 by approving "Budget Amendment XI" to the "Original General Budget of the City of Friendswood, Texas, for the Fiscal Year 2014-2015"; providing for supplemental appropriation and/or transfer of certain funds; providing for severability; and providing other matters related to the subject. 12.
