A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, � �
HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS "APPLICANT", DESIGNATING
THE MAYOR OF FRIENDSWOOD AS BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR,
ACTING FOR, AND ON BEHALF OF THE "APPLICANT" IN DEALING
WITH THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL, HEREINAFTER
REFERRED TO AS "DEPARTMENT", FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PARTICIPATING IN CONTINUATION OF FUNDING FOR THE
VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT FUNDING PROGRAM, HEREINAFTER
REFERRED TO AS THE "PROGRAM"; AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMISSION OF A CONTINUATION GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL.
WI�REAS, the applicant finds it in the best interest of the citizens of Friendswood that
the Crime Victim Assistance program continue to be grant funded and operated for the 2004 fis- �
cal year�, and
WHEREAS, the applicant has considered the proposed application for the State and
Federal Assistance for said project, in the amount of $63,250 to be submitted to Houston-
Galveston Area Council, Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood has agreed to provide matching moneys for the
said project in the amount of$11,210 or an amount equal to 20% of the total project cost and an
in-kind match of$7,200, as required by the grant application; and
WHEREAS, the Ciiy of Friendswood has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of
the Criminal Justice Division funds, the City of Friendswood assures that the funds will be re-
turned to the Criminal Justice Division in full; and
WHEREAS, the applicant believes that the program materially enhances the administra-
tion of justice for all crime victims in the City of Friendswood; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED that City of Friendswood approves submission of the grant applica-
tion for the Crime Victim Assistance Program to Houston-Galveston Area Council, VOCA Pro-
gram in the amount of$63,250.
