ORDINANCE NO. 2015-06
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING APPENDIX C, "ZONING,"
SECTION 3. "PROVISION FOR OFFICIAL ZONING
MAP," TO UPDATE AND ADOPT THE OFFICIAL
ZONING MAP OF THE CITY, INCORPORATING
APPROVED CHANGES IN DISTRICT BOUNDARIES AND
OTHER MATTERS PORTRAYED ON THE OFFICIAL
ZONING MAP; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR
VIOLATION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2000, OR
AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED BY LAW; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES
INCONSISTENT OR IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.
WHEREAS, Appendix C of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Friendswood contains
provisions for the City's "Zoning Ordinance" which, pursuant to Section 3, "Provisions for
Official Zoning Map," Subsection A, "Official Zoning Map," requires adoption of an official
zoning map, with required amendments to such zoning map as approved changes are made in
zoning districts; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, no changes of any nature shall
be made in the official zoning map or matter shown thereon except in conformity with the
procedures set forth therein; and
WHEREAS, the official zoning map has been has been prepared to incorporate all zone
updates, changes, corrections, amendments, and/or other matters portrayed on the official zoning
map for required approval in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, which is attached hereto
and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A" ("Official Zoning Map"), to specifically supersede the
prior official zoning map approved by Ordinance 2011-23, finally adopted on July 25, 2011, said
map which is attached hereto as Exhibit`B" and made a part hereof("Prior Zoning Map"); and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council have conducted,
in the time and manner required by law and the Zoning Ordinance of the City, a joint public
hearing on such request; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has filed its written report with City
Council,that recommends approval of the new official zoning map; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to approve the new Official Zoning
Map, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", to supersede the prior official zoning map approved by
Ordinance 2011-23 attached hereto as Exhibit`B';
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS:
Section 1. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Ordinance are
hereby found to be true and correct.
Section 2. AMENDMENT TO THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY CODE, APPENDIX C,
"ZONING", SECTION 3, "PROVISION FOR OFFICIAL ZONING MAP," TO UPDATE
AND ADOPT THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY.
The official zoning map is hereby amended by adopting a new Official Zoning Map,
attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A", to specifically supersede prior zoning
maps, specifically including the Prior Official Zoning Map approved by Ordinance 2011-23,
finally adopted on July 25, 2011, said map which is attached hereto as Exhibit "B" and made a
part hereof.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall in no manner amend, change, supplement, or revise
any provision of any ordinance of the City of Friendswood, save and except the adoption of the
New Official Zoning Map, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", said map to contain the statement:
"This is to certify that this is the Official Zoning Map referred to in Section 3 of Ordinance No.
84-15, the City of Friendsivood Zoning Ordinance"together with the date of the adoption of this
ordinance. The New Official Zoning Map shall be identified by the signature of the mayor
attested by the city secretary, and bearing the seal of the city under the following words: "This is
to certify that this Official Zoning Map supersedes and replaces the Prior Official Zoning Map

adopted on by Ordinance 2011-23, finally adopted on July 25, 2011 as part of Ordinance No.
84-15, the City of Friendswood Zoning Ordinance."
Section 4. In the event any clause phrase, provision, sentence, or part of this
Ordinance or the application of the same to any person or circumstances shall for any reason be
adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect,
impair, or invalidate this Ordinance as a whole or any part or provision hereof other than the part
declared to be invalid or unconstitutional; and the City Council of the City of Friendswood,
Texas, declares that it would have passed each and every part of the same notwithstanding the
omission of any such part thus declared to be invalid or unconstitutional, whether there be one or
more parts.
Section 5. Any person who shall willfully, intentionally, or with criminal negligence
violate any provision of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon
conviction thereof, shall be fined in an amount not to exceed $2,000.00. Each day of violation
shall constitute a separate offense.
PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading this 2nd day of February, 2015.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED on second and final reading this 2nd day of
March, 2015.
