HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2003-09 RESOLUTION NO.R2003-09 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD TO CONTINUE TTS PARTICIPATION IN,AND APPROVE THE AMENDMENTS TO,THE BYLAWS OF THE TEXAS CONFERENCE OF URBAN COUNTIES AGGREGATION PROJECT,INC.(dba/Public Power Pool or P3). * * * * * WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Friendswood has previously approved the articles of incorporation and bylaws of the Texas Conference of Urban Counties Aggregation Project, Inc. (Public Power Pool), thereby incorporating and joining the Public Power Pool in order to seek to obtain the lowest cost of electricity available in the restructured competitive retail electric market which opened in Texas in January 2002; and WHEREA5,the City Council of the City of Friendswood has reviewed the benefits of its participation in the Public Power Pool; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Public Power Pool has recommended certain amendments to the Bylaws of the Public Power Pool; and WHEREAS, Section 304.001, Local Government Code, requires any amendments to the Bylaws of a political subdivision corporation created under that Chapter be approved by the members of the corparation; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood desires to approve the Bylaws amendments as recommended by the Board of Directors of the Public Power Pool; and WHEREAS, the Bylaws of the Public Power Pool require its members to opt out of its next electricity procurement project by February 13, 2003. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD TAAT: The City of Friendswood hereby elects to continue its participation in the Texas Conference of Urban Counties Aggregation Project; and The City of Friendswood hereby approves the amendments to the Bylaws of the Texas Conference of Urban Counties Aggregation Project, Inc.,which are attached hereto.
