Seconded by Councilmember Scott. The motion was approved 5-1 with Councilmember Gustafson opposed. City Attorney Arnold Polanco explained that anytime Council takes it upon itself to call the election to approve public debt that care should be taken to make sure as much information as humanly possible is provided to the voters in advance of the election, not only in advance but certainly by the deadlines imposed upon the City by State law under the Election Code. Staff has learned that Early Voting locations have been added to Harris County, additional de minimis typographical errors to polling locations and there was some question about posting the draft ordinance in compliance to deadlines imposed in the charter, now is the opportunity to cure all the items, recommendation is for Council to adopt the ordinance.
