AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING OR PROVIDING FOR THE
REDESIGNATION OF NAMES OF VARIOUS STREETS AND
THOROUGHFARES WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS; PROVIDING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATED TO SUCH CHANGES; AND PROVIDING
A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood, Texas has established a procedure for
designating and redesignating street addresses; and
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood finds and determines that designating of a
City Road to Baker Road and the redesignating of Rancho Drive to E. Viejo will
materially improve traffic flow and ease the general public's confusion in locating various
addresses within the city of Friendswood; and
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood finds and determines that designating or
redesignation of street names and street addresses will materially improve the delivery of
United States mail and the delivery of other goods to residents of the City of
Friendswood; and
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood finds and determines that designating or
redesignation of street names and street addresses will substantially improve the response
time of emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, police vehicles and ambulances, to the
various addresses within the city of Friendswood, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood finds and determines that designating or
redesignation of street names and street addresses will therefore materially improve the
health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City of Friendswood, Texas; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
STATE OF TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out herein are hereby approved and adopted
in full.

Section 2. That the following public streets, thoroughfares, or parts thereof as
described herein, of the City of Friendswood, Texas, are hereby and henceforth from the
date of the final passage of this Ordinance shall be designated or redesignated as follows:
1. Designate the unnamed 60 foot R.O.W. running north westerly along the
entrance of the Whispering Pines Estates Subdivision as BAKER ROAD.
2. Redesignate the east end of Viejo Drive known on the final replat of
Rancho Viejo, Lot 11 as Rancho Drive to E. VIEJO DRIVE.
3. Redesignate the street address for 302 E. Viejo Drive to 300 E. Viejo
Drive.
Section 3. Upon the final reading of this Ordinance, the City Manager shall in
a timely manner initiate installation of proper street signs in accordance with this
Ordinance.
Section 4. All new official or unofficial maps prepared by or authorized by
the City subsequent to the final passage of this Ordinance shall bear the street
designations contained in Section 2 of this Ordinance.
Section 5. The City Manager is hereby directed to advise the Federal Flood
Insurance Administration as to the substance of the street designations approved herein
for inclusion in the official Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM).
Section 6. In the event any clause phrase, provision, sentence, or part of this
Ordinance or the application of the same to any person or circumstances shall for any
reason be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction,
it shall not affect, impair, or invalidate this Ordinance as a whole or any part or provision
hereof other than the part declared to be invalid or unconstitutional; and the City Council
of the City of Friendswood, Texas, declares that it would have passed each and every part
of the same notwithstanding the omission of any such part thus declared to be invalid or
unconstitutional, whether there be one or more parts.
PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading this 5 `h day of August, 2002.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED on second and final reading this 19 tn
