ORDINANCE NO. 2012-29 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING STATUTORY CROSS- REFERENCES CONTAINED IN THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,TEXAS. WHEREAS, Section 3.14(d) of the City Charter provides that the City Council may, without approval of the voters, adopt an ordinance that, among other things, corrects cross- references appearing in the Charter; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has reviewed the City Charter and recommends various corrections to existing statutory cross-references appearing in the Charter, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS: Section 1. The City Charter of the City of Friendswood, Texas shall be amended as shown on the attached Exhibit "A" attached hereto in order to correct state law and other statutory cross-references. Section 2. In the event any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, provision, sentence, or part of this Ordinance or the application of the same to any person or circumstance shall for any reason be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect, impair, or invalidate this Ordinance as a whole or any part Jr provision hereof other any part or provision hereof other than the part declared to be invalid Ir unconstitutional; and the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, declares that it woull have passed each and every part of the same notwithstanding the omission of any and every part of the same notwithstanding the omission of any such part thus declared to be invalid or unconstitutional, or whether there be one or more parts. A revision ordinance adopted under this section is not intended to and shall not be interpreted as authorizing any substantive change, in any Charter provision. The City Attorney's office undertook a review of the City Charter and recommends various corrections to existing statutory cross-references appearing in the Charter.
