FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:07 pm with the following members present: CHAIR SUSAN ASIMAKIS VICE CHAIR BLAISE GUZZETTA COMMITTEE MEMBER BETH ROBINSON COMMITTEE MEMBER SHARON ROWSEY COMMITTEE MEMBER JUDY WIGGINS COMMITTEE MEMBER PAULINE MOORE COUNCILMEMBER SALLY BRANSON ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER STEVEN RHEA DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUBREY HARBIN SECRETARY KRISTINA CUELLAR ABSENT: COMMITTEE MEMBER DENISE SPRUIELL 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS None. 3. MINUTES A. Consider approving the minutes of the Community and Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting, held on August 6th, 2025. Motion to approve: Guzzetta Second: Robinson Vote: 6/0 - Minutes Approved 4. DISCUSSION ITEMS Asimakis welcomed Tram Kim to the meeting. Kim, a local realtor, was interested in learning about how CDEC operates. Lexi Kopp, the Executive Director of Career and Technical Education and Community Partnerships for Friendswood ISD, also attended the meeting. She provided an update on FISD's cell phone policy and discussed how students have adapted to it so far. A. Discuss the Community and Economic Development Committee economic development and business retention strategy. Asimakis discussed the committee's progress on various initiatives outlined in the Strategic Plan and emphasized the importance of making the city a ‘friendly business’ community. She expressed a desire to improve connections with businesses, particularly regarding Future Works. On Monday, September 15th, a small group will meet to discuss/‘restart’ Future Works. This group will include CEDC member Judy Wiggins, City Staff member Steven Rhea, and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, FISD, CCISD, Workforce, Small Business Solutions, and San Jacinto College. Additionally, the committee brainstormed ideas to enhance communication with the business community. 5. REPORTS Harbin gave the Business Report for August 2025. New Businesses Piston Automotive Center - 3504 E FM 528 Rd Gemini Urgent Care - 1111 S Friendswood Dr Suite 105 House of Lanterns, LLC - 907 S Friendswood Dr Suite 303 6. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:17pm.
