MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 4:01 pm with the following members present:

2. PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
3. MINUTES
A. Consider approving the minutes of the Community and Economic Development
Committee Regular Meeting, held on April 2nd, 2025.
Motion to approve: Guzzetta
Second: Spruiell
Vote: 6/0 - Minutes Approved
4. DISCUSSION ITEMS
Asimakis welcomed committee member Sharon Rowsey, expressed gratitude to Kyle Winne
for his dedication, and announced that Kyle will be stepping down.
A. Consider making a recommendation to the City Council regarding a proposed offer
of a financial or other incentive to a business prospect.
The committee’s motion is to recommend to the City Council approval of the proposed offer of
a financial or other incentive to a business prospect, Source Solutions, and All Out Offroad.
B. Discuss the Community and Economic Development Committee economic
development and business retention strategy.
The committee provided an overview of Small Business Week and Future Works. Small
Business Week was a great success, with 91 attendees at the keynote presentation given by
Armando Perez. The Kickoff Coffee event gathered about 40 participants, and approximately
72 people took part in the workshops held at the library. Everyone is eager and looking forward
to next year's Small Business Week. As for Future Works, the committee executed their plans
and will be reaching out to Workforce Solutions and San Jacinto College for their feedback.
Lexi Kopp, the Executive Director of Career and Technical Education and Community
Partnerships with Friendswood ISD, attended the meeting and expressed her enthusiasm for
collaborating on Future Works. CDEC would like to begin marketing for Future Works by the
end of the year. They have asked Steven to organize a brainstorming session involving
Friendswood ISD, Clear Creek ISD, the Chamber of Commerce, Amy Reed, and Workforce
Solutions.
