AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
PROVIDING FOR THE RENAMING OF A PORTION OF FALCON
LAKE DRIVE TO OVERLOOK DRIVE; PROVIDING VARIOUS
FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO SUCH CHANGE; AND
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas has established
procedures for the naming and renaming of streets within the City; and
WHEREAS, said City Council hereby finds and determines that the renaming of a
portion of Falcon Lake Drive to Overlook Street will materially improve traffic flow, ease
confusion in identifying addresses upon such street, and substantially improve the delivery of
United States mail, to the residents thereon; and
WHEREAS, said City Council hereby further finds and determines that the renaming of
a portion of Falcon Lake Drive to Overlook Street will substantially improve the response time
of emergency police, fire, and medical services to the residents located upon such street; now,
therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
STATE OF TEXAS:
Section 1. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Ordinance are
hereby found to be true and correct.
Section 2. That portion of Falcon Lake Drive, fronting Lots 1 through 13, Block 1,
and Lots 1 through 11, Block 4, of the Lakes of Falcon Ridge Subdivision, Section One, as
recorded at Volume , Page , of the plat records of Galveston County, Texas, is
hereby renamed to Overlook Drive. The numerical portions of addresses for such lots shall
remain unchanged.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to provide for the
timely installation of proper street signs in accordance with this Ordinance.
Section 4. All new official or unofficial maps prepared by or authorized by the City
subsequent to the final passage of this Ordinance shall bear the street designations contained in
Section 2 of this Ordinance.
Section 5. The City Manager is hereby further authorized and directed to advise the
Federal Flood Insurance Administration as to the substance of the street designations approved
herein for inclusion in the official Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM).
Section 6. In the event any clause phrase, provision, sentence, or part of this
Ordinance or the application of the same to any person or circumstances shall for any reason be
adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect,
impair, or invalidate this Ordinance as a whole or any part or provision hereof other than the part
declared to be invalid or unconstitutional; and the City Council of the City of Friendswood,
Texas, declares that it would have passed each and every part of the same notwithstanding the
omission of any such part thus declared to be invalid or unconstitutional, whether there be one or
more parts.
