HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board Minutes 2022-11-15 RegularMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES NOVEMBER 15, 2022 THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MET IN A REGULAR MEETING ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2022, AT 6PM, IN THE JOYCINA BAKER CONFERENCE ROOM, LOCATED IN THE FRIENDSWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY, 416 SOUTH FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: JOBETH BRIZENDINEVICE CHAIR BENETTE ROWLEYCOMMITTEE MEMBER BETTY STACYCOMMITTEE MEMBER BRETT STEPHENCOMMITTEE MEMBER CHAIR DIANE FREEMAN, COMMITTEE MEMBER NEETA JAMBHEKAR, COMMITTEE MEMBER MADELINE SHORT, COMMITTEE MEMBER SHARON TAIT, AND COMMITTEE MEMBER KATHY MOLINARO WERE ABSENT FROM THE MEETING.’ CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6pm without a quorum present. PUBLIC COMMENT There was no communication from the public. MINUTES Consider approving the minutes of the Library Board of Trustees held on September 27, 2022. The minutes from the meeting held on September 27 were not approved as there was not a quorum present. REPORTS Receive the Library Director’s Report. Matt gave the Director’s report. He highlighted upcoming programs including Santa at the Library, Cards of Cheer, the annual ZakiCon anime convention, and the monthly Acoustic Pickers program. Matt also gave an update on the wall deconstruction project. Matt mentioned that the library has an interest in getting a screen printing machine to create t-shirts for staff and patron use. Matt also mentioned genrefying the adult fiction collection. He shared that the children’s department has already done this with their juvenile fiction collection. The Friends of the Library are still searching for a secretary. 5. DISCUSSIONS AND POSSIBLE ACTION A. Discussions and Possible Action on the Friendswood Library Long-Range Plan. Matt presented the Friendswood Library Long-Range Plan to the board. Matt emphasized that the Long-Range Plan will need to be approved at the next board meeting. Matt asked Shawna for an update. Shawna shared that Christina has been coming to lunches at the school library and making a lot of good connections with the kids. Matt asked if there was a way to promote library programs at the high school. Shawna mentioned the various places that library programs could be promoted as long as they are approved by the principal. Brett asked if we have an area for patrons to take passport photos and corporate headshots. Matt says we don’t but we could potentially offer corporate headshots. Passport photos are a little more complicated and require more than we are ready to provide at this time. Brett also mentioned calming tents and if the library has heard of them. Matt shared that the children’s department has developed a sensory story time for neurodivergent kids but we don’t have any tents. Matt thanked the board for coming to the Town Hall. 6. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 6:42pm.
