A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS, ADOPTING THE 2025 HARRIS COUNTY MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL
HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN;AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Friendswood,Texas,recognizes the threat that natural
hazards pose to people and property within its jurisdiction;and
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood (the "City") has prepared a multi-hazard mitigation plan,
hereby known as the 2025 Harris County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (the "Plan"), in
accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000;and
WHEREAS, the Plan has been approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency
("FEMA")and the Texas Division of Emergency Management("TDEM"); and
WHEREAS,the Plan identifies mitigation goals and actions to reduce or eliminate long-term risk
to people and property in the City of Friendswood from the impacts of future hazards and disasters;and
WHEREAS,adoption by the City Council demonstrates their commitment to hazard mitigation and
achieving the goals outlined in the Plan;NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,STATE OF
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this resolution are hereby
found to be true and correct.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Friendswood hereby adopts the 2025 Harris
County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan,which is on file with Harris County,available online
at ReadyHarris.org and is incorporated herein by this reference for all intents and purposes.
Section 3. That the City Council hereby authorizes edits or amendments to the Plan consistent
with its purposes after its submission without further City Council action;provided,however,City Council
shall review and adopt an update to the Plan in five(5)years.
Section 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
