A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A FIVE-YEAR MUNICIPAL LEASE-
PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS,
INC., FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF AN AXS
DISPATCH CONSOLE SYSTEM AND APX N70 PORTABLE
RADIOS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THIRTY-
FIVE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN AND 29/100
DOLLARS ($1,535,967.29); AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE A FIVE-YEAR MUNICIPAL LEASE-PURCHASE AGREEMENT
WITH MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC., FOR THE PURCHASE AND
INSTALLATION OF AN AXS DISPATCH CONSOLE SYSTEM AND APX
N70 PORTABLE RADIOS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THIRTY-FIVE
THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN AND 29/100 DOLLARS
($1,535,967.29);AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood Police Department relies on Motorola radio and
dispatch console systems as the primary means of communication between dispatchers, patrol
officers,and mutual aid partners;and
WHEREAS, the existing radio and console systems have reached or are nearing end-of-
service life, resulting in limited manufacturer support, unavailable replacement parts, and
increasing maintenance risks; and
WHEREAS, the Friendswood Police Department has identified the need to replace its
obsolete communication systems to maintain reliable, interoperable, and mission-critical
emergency communications; and
WHEREAS, the total project cost will be financed through a five-year Municipal Lease-
Purchase Agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc., allowing the City to acquire the necessary
public safety communications equipment while managing fiscal impact over multiple budget
years; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this upgrade is necessary to ensure continued
reliability of public safety communications, officer safety, and interoperability with surrounding
jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to designate City Manager Morad Kabiri as an
authorized signer of the Lease-Purchase Agreement;NOW THEREFORE,
BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
STATE OF TEXAS:
Section 1. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this resolution are hereby
found to be true and correct.
Section 2. That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute a five-
year Municipal Lease-Purchase Agreement (the "Agreement") with Motorola Solutions, Inc., for
the purchase and installation of AXS console equipment and APX N70 portable radios, in an
amount not to exceed ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND NINE
HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN AND 29/100 DOLLARS ($1;535,967.29)together with any related
documents necessary to complete the transaction, subject to approval as to form by the City
Attorney.
Section 3. That the City Manager is authorized to take all actions necessary to
implement the terms of the Agreement and ensure proper acquisition, installation, and operation
of the new communications equipment.
Section 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
