A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS
AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL
RUNOFF ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 5, 2010, FOR THE
PURPOSE OF ELECTING A COUNCILMEMBER TO
COUNCILMEMBER POSITION NO. 6 OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY; AND CONTAINING OTHER
PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT.

WHEREAS, in accordance with the general laws and Constitution of the State of Texas,the
City of Friendswood conducted a general election on May 8, 2010, for the purpose of electing two
Councilmembers(Position Nos. 4 and 6); and
WHEREAS, no candidate in the race for Councilmember Position No. 6 received a
majority of the votes cast for that position; and
WHEREAS, consistent with Section 6.04(c) of the City Charter, a special runoff election
was duly called and ordered for June 5,2010; and
WHEREAS, the two candidates for such runoff election were Deirdre Carev Brown and
Jeff Moser, same being the two candidates in the general municipal election receiving the highest
number of votes for Councilmember Position No. 6; and
WHEREAS, said election was duly and legally held in conformity with the election laws of
the State of Texas, and the results of said election have been verified and returned by the proper
judges and clerks; and
WHEREAS, it appears that a total of 2,478 votes were cast in said election;now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS:
Section 1. The facts and matters set forth in the preambl�of this Resolution are hereby
found to be true and correct.
Section 2. The official canvass of the returns of the special runoff election held on June
5, 2010, reflects that the following named persons received the number of votes set opposite their
names in the respective positions to be filled:
Councilmember-Position No. 6
Candidate Votes Received
Jeff Moser 907
Deirdre Carey Brown 1,571
Section 3. The official canvass of the returns of the special runoff election held on June
5, 2010,reflects that the following person was duly elected to the position shown:
Councilmember-Position No. 6
Deirdre Carey Brown
Section 4. It is hereby found and determined that the NOTICE OF MEETING
relating to the meeting of the City Council at which this Resolution was considered and the
posting thereof, was proper and said notice and posting are hereby authorized, approved,
resolved, ratified, and confirmed.
PASSED,APPROVED, and RESOLVED this 14th day of June,2010.
