R2010-20 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 8, 2010, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING TWO COUNCILMEMBERS TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY; AND CONTAIIVING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT. * * * * � WHEREAS, a general election was held within the City of Friendswood, Texas, on May 8, 2010, for the purpose of electing two (2)Councilmembers; and WHEREAS, said election was duly and legally held in conformity with the election laws of the State of Texas, and the results of said election have been verified and returned by the proper judges and clerks; and WHEREAS, it appears that a total of 2,886 votes were cast in said election; now,therefare, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: Section 1. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby found to be true and correct. Section 2. The official canvass of the returns of the general election held on May 8, 2010, reflects that the following named persons received the number of votes set opposite their names in the respective positions to be filled: Councilmember-Position No.4 Candidate Votes Received Billy Enochs 252 Kevin Holland 1,126 Pat McGinnis 1,415 Councilmember-Position No. 6 Candidate Votes Received Andy Rivera 693 Deirdre Carey Brown 1,390 Jeff Moser 781 Section 3. The official canvass of the returns of the general election held on May 8, 2010, reflects that the following persons were duly elected to the respective positions shown: Councilmember-Position No. 4 Pat McGinnis Councilmember-Position No. 6 [no candidate received a majority] Section 4. The official canvass of the returns of the general election held on May 8, 2010, reflects that in the race for Councilmember, Position No. 6, no candidate received a majority vote, and that a runoff election shall be held among the candidates who received the greatest number of votes for the first two places, in accordance with section 6.04(c) of The City Charter. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for such position are Deirdre Carev Brown and Jeff Moser. Section 5. It is hereby found and determined that the NOTICE OF MEETING relating to the meeting of the City Council at which this Resolution was considered and the posting thereof, was proper and said notice and posting are hereby authorized, approved, resolved, ratified, and confirmed.
