A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DECLARING URGENT
DISASTER RECOVERY NEEDS RESULTING FROM
HURRICANE IKE AND STATING THE CITY'S INTENT TO
CONTINUE TO SEEK ALTERNATE FUNDING SOURCES
TO MEET THESE URGENT DISASTER RECOVERY
NEEDS, AND TO PREPARE FOR AND MITIGATE THE
EFFECTS OF FUTURE DISASTERS.

WHEREAS, due to the magnitude of Hurricane Ike in September of 2008,the City of
Friendswood suffered significant damage; and
WHEREAS, the City has been successful in recuperating funds expended for the
preparation and response to Ike; and
WHEREAS,the City recognizes that many unmet needs remain; and
WHEREAS, the remaining urgent disaster recovery needs are beyond the financial
capabilities of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Friendswood hereby declares that there
remain urgent disaster recovery needs resulting from Hurricane Ike.
Section 2. The City will continue to seek alternate funding sources to meet these urgent
disaster recovery needs and to prepare for and mitigate against future disasters.
