A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, ACCEPTING THE
DONATION OF THE FRIENDSWOOD VETERANS
MEMORIAL FROM THE FRIENDSWOOD MEMORIAL
FUND, INC.; APPROVING THE PROJECT AND SITE PLAN
FOR THE PLACEMENT OF THE VETERANS MEMORIAL
ON CITY PROPERTY.

WHEREAS, on June 2, 2008, former councilmember Jay Horecky, former veterans, and
concerned citizens presented to City Council the idea of erecting a veterans memorial in the City
of Friendswood; and
WHEREAS, at that meeting, City Council expressed its full support for the project; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Horecky, the former veterans, and concerned citizens formed a
501(c)(3) nonprofit called the Friendswood Memorial Fund, Inc. to accept funds to support the
project; and
WHEREAS, Friendswood Memarial Fund, Inc. is ready to donate to the City of
Friendswood the "Friendswood Veterans Memorial" for placement on the specified grounds of
City Hall, at 910 S. Friendswood Drive;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood wishes to accept donation of
the Memorial, and approve the project and site plan for the placement of the Memorial on city
property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Friendswood hereby formally accepts
donation of the "Friendswood Veterans Memorial" from the Friendswood Memorial Fund, Inc.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Friendswood approves the project and
site plan, as attached as Exhibit A hereto, for the placement of the Memorial on City Hall
grounds. The City Council directs that the Memorial be placed according to said project
documents and site plan.
