HomeMy WebLinkAboutBicycle Committee Minutes 1992-12-10 Regular FRIENDSWOOD BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES DECEMBER LOTH, 1992 Call to Order. The Bicycle Advisory Committee met on the above date at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room. In attendance were Tony LeCara, Chairman, Councilman Mel Measels, Todd Yeager, Joe Tennison and Melinda Wasson. October 22nd Minutes. The minutes were approved as printed. Report from Chair. Tony said the Parks Board is working on a master plan and they want .to tie the parks together with hike and bike trails. The master plan shows a concrete trail along Chigger Creek. A park will be provided in each area of town. A meeting will take place at the Community National Bank on the 17th where the consultant will present the plan. Bicycle Riders Survey. Tony said the survey forms have been compiled and the biggest interest is in routes and paths. Four out of seven responses indicated interest in bike lanes or paths. 40% of of responses showed an interest in bike routes or signage. The most frequently used roads are F.M. 518, Sunset and Greenbriar. Tony will do a full data analysis. Mel suggested giving the results to the parks Board. Melinda suggested presenting the results to Council with bar charts. She thought we should also have a press release. Mel said we could put it in the city newsletter. Police Bicycle Program Proposal. Tony said the literature we ordered came in. The City has the opportunity to get more police on the street with less cost. We can use the literature as a guideline for a package for the Friendswood Police Department. We will focus on Friendswood. Transportation Enhancement Program. Those present voted to send the memo drafted by Melinda on to Ron Cox. They suggested she send a copy to John Gaynor for his comments. The January meeting is scheduled for the 28th. Adjournment.
