FRIENDSWOOD BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 4TH, 1993
Call to Order. The Bicycle Advisory Committee met on the
above date at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Annex. In
attendance were Tony Lecara, Chairman, Councilman Mel
Measels, Todd Yeager, Joe Tennison and Melinda Wasson.
December 10th Minutes. The minutes were approved as
printed.
Report from Chair. Tony said he was appointed an alternate
to the Parks and Recreation Committee and attended their
last meeting. They are considering proposed bike lanes,
paths and routes for the Master Parks Plan. Their next
meeting is the last Thursday of 'the month.
Bicycle Riders Survey. Tony said the Master Parks Plan will
be presented in a workshop March 6th or 8th. He wants to
present the results of the survey to Council before that.
He plans to prepare charts and graphs for the Council
packets. Mel suggested the .survey results be presented at
the regular meeting March 1st. He w, l'l take care of having
it placed on the agenda.
Police Bicycle Program Proposal. Tony' said the police
bicycle program lends itself to the hike and bike trail
plan. He will try to move on the hike and bike plan first.
Transportation Enhancement Program. Tony said he discussed
the Transportation Enhancement Program with the Parks
Committee. He said the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
uses the same criteria for grants as the H-GAC uses for the
transportation projects. He discussed the hike and bike
trail plan in relation to the Master...Parks Plan. Most park
and recreation facilities fall in 'clesd proximity to the
park and recreation areas.
New Business. The Committee felt� we�*need to pursue a couple
of additional members. Richard Prentice will come - he just
needs the notice sent to the proper address. Barbara has
been out of town.
Tony said the Westwood Bike Rodeo 'is,�February 20th from 9: 00
to 11:00 a.m. It is geared for grades 2 through 4. Tony
will, do the safety presentation. -They'will need help with
teaching and signalling.
The next meeting is scheduled for, the' ;25th of February. Joe
said he will be out of town.
Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 9: 00 p.m.
