AT FRIENDSWOOD CITY HALL, 910 S. FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, WITH THE FOLLOWiNG PRESENT CONSTiTUTING A QUORUM: MAYOR HAROLD L. WHITAKER MAYOR PRO TEM KIM BRIZENDINE COUNCILMEMBER K17TEN BRIZENDINE COUf�CiLMEMBER JERRY ERICSSON COUNCILMEMBER LARRY TAYLOR COUNCILMEMBER MEL MEASELES CITY MANAGER RON COX CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE MAYOR WHITAKER CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER. �`'�COUNCILMEMBER TAYLOR MOVED TQ APPROVE RESOLUTION N0. R2000-55, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2000, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING ONE (1) COUNCILMEMBER TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM ENDING MAY, 2003 FOR POSITION 3 TO TNE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD. VOTES FOR POSITION THREE: TRACY GOZA - 2,872; HARLESS BENTHUL - 1,457; MICHAEL MABREY - 620 W1TH TRACY GOZA BEING ELECTED TO THE UNEXPIRED TERM ENDING MAY, 2003. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER KITTEN BRIZENDINE. THE MOTION WAS APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 6-0. JUDGE JAMES YARBROUGN, GALVESTON COUNTY COURT, ADMINISTERED THE OATH OF OFFICE TO COUNCILMEMBER GOZA. COUNCILMEMBER GOZA STATED HE WAS VERY EXCITED AND OVERWHELMED BY THE RECORD VOTES, THANKED BOTH CANDIDATES AND STATED THEY WERE TRUE GENTLEMEN, THANKED HIS WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN, HIS MOTHER, FATHER, RANDY WEISINGER, MARJORIE HOFFMAN, SALLY MABREY, GREG CRINION, HIS CAMPAIGN MANAGER, AND THE MANY OTHERS WHO HELPEQ IN HIS CAMPAIGN. COUNCILMEMBER GOZA STATED HE WAS HUMBLED BY THE SUPPORT, ASKED FOR {NPUT FROM THE COUNC{L AND CITIZENS, URGED EVERYONE TO JOIN TOGETHER, AND HE WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THE MAYOR, COUNCILMEMBERS, STAFF AND EVERY CITIZEN. MAYOR WHITAKER CONGRATULATED COUNCILMEMBER GOZA ON BEHALF OF THE COUNCIL FOR BEING ELECTED TO POSITION 3 AND STATED COUNCIL IS LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH HIM.
