CITY MANAGER COX PRESEN�i"ED THE FIVE STAR AWARD TO BRETT BURNS, A WATER/WASTEWATER
OPERATQR (N THE PUB�IC WORKS QEPARTMENT, FOR THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2QOQ. BRETT WAS
NOMINATED BY A CITIZEN AFTER BRETT CAME TO HER ASSISTANCE WHEN HER CAR BROKE DOWN.
BRETT STOPPED TO RENDER AID, CALLED THE POLICE, AND WAITED FOR THEIR ARRIVAL. THEN HE
NELPED PUSH THE CAR TO A SAFER PLACE AWAY FROM THE TRAFFIC AND STAYED WITH HER AND
THE CNILDREN UNTIL THEY 1�NERE SAFELY ON THE1R WAY NOM�. BRETT RECEIVED THE AWARD FOR
GOING THE EXTRA MILE TO ASSIST OUR CITIZENS AND EXHIBIT THE QUALITIFS OF A FIVE STAR

HOLD TOWN MEETING ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9T", AT 7 PM, ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF PARKS
AND RECREATION.
COUNCILMEMBER KIM BRIZENDINE REMINDED EVERYONE TO VOTE TOMORROW, INVITED EVERYONE
TO ATTEND THE GROUND-BREAKING IN ALVIN FOR HABITAT FOR HUMAN�TY IN FOR FRIENDSWOOD,

CONSECUTIVE YEAR, FUNDS FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT DIVISION FOR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PURPOSED. THE $31,000 GRANT WILL BE
FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS AND EQUIPMENT TO ENHANCE THE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS OF OUR
COMMUNiTY. CITY MA(VAGER COX REPORTED TNAT AN ORIENTATION SESSION FOR THE THREE
CANDIDATES FOR CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD ON OGTOBER 19T" IN ANTICIPATfON OF THE NOVEMBER
7, 2000 SPECIAL ELECTION FOR POSITION 3. ALL CANDIDATES WERE IN ATTENDANCE FOR THE TWO-
