RESOLUTION:

THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DECLARING THE NECESSITY FOR THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL
MEETING - BUDGET W4RKSHOP OF CITY COUNCIL ON MONDAY, AUGUST 28,20Q0, AT 6:30 PM AT
THE FRIENDSWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY MEETING ROOM,416 S. FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF DISCUSSING THE PROPOSED FY2000-01 OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE
CITY, MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS;AND RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE CALLING OF SUCH SPECIAL
MEETING.

DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE PROPOSED FY2000-01 OPERATING BUDGET. DIRECTOR OF
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MIKE HODGE PRESENTED AN UPDATE OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
TO GUIDE THE CITY IN RESOLVING CURRENT ISSUES, TO GUIDE FUTURE GROW7H TOWARD A
SPECIFIC, DESfRABLE AND ECONOMfC PATTERN, TO GU1DE THE USE OF LAND AREA AfVD VAI.UABLE
RESOURCES TO THE BETTERMENT OF EVERYONE AND AN UPDATE OF VISION 2020 INCLUDING
DEVELOPING A TAX BASE, IMPROVING INFRASTRUCTURE, RETAINING VALUES, MAINTAINING QUALITY
OF SCHOOLS, IMPROVING DRAINAGE, MAINTAINING HIGH LEVEL OF PUBLIC SERVICES.
DISCUSSION CONTINUED REGARDING A MASTER PLAN FOR PUSLIC WORKS, REViSION TO THE
COMPREHENSIVE MASTER PLAN, THE TXDOT PROJECT - BRITTANY BAY B�ULEVARD AND
FRIENDSWOOD LINK ROAD AND FRIENDSWOOQ VOLUNTARY FIRE qEPARTMENT ISSUES INCLUDING
REALLOCATION OF FUNDS,AD&D BENEFITS, RETIREMENT BENEFITS,AND VEHICI.E REPLACEMENTS.
OTHER EXPENDITURES WERE DISCUSSED SUCH AS AUTOMATION OF MEDIAN SPRINKLER SYSTEM,
HiSTORiCAL SOCfETY FUNDiNG AND A CENTENN{AL PAftK IRRIGATION SYSTEM.
