HomeMy WebLinkAboutADA Minutes 1994-01-07 Regular CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD ADA COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES I JANUARY 7, 1994 PRESENT: Martha Gillett, ADA Committee Chairman Roger Roecker, Director of Administrative Services David Hoover, Chief Building official/City Planner Jon Branson, Parks and Recreation Director The meeting was called to order by ADA Chairman, Martha Gillett, at 10:00 a.m. , in the City Hall Council Chambers. The committee read and approved meeting minutes of the September 23, 1993 meeting. David Collins, Fire Marshal reported that he will provide a detailed report on alarms needed for all City Buildings, at the next ADA meeting. In addition, Mr. Collins was requested to survey signage compliance at all Fire Stations. The signage report will also be presented at the next ADA meeting. Signage for the Library and new City Hall will be taken care of in the new construction requirements. Martha Gillett reported that Southwestern Bell will be changing out phone equipment on pay phones at City facilities in an effort to comply with ADA. The phone at Sesquicentennial Park will be at the cost of the City. Jon Branson will check the phone to ensure that it is not already in compliance with the ADA before repair order is placed. Jon Branson reported on the status of the city Hall sidewalk and restrooms. Two bids have been received 1) Elstad $2,650 excluding labor. 2) Pearland Roofing $1,500 labor/labor and materials $2,450. After discussion, a motion was made by David Hoover to award job to Elstad due to previous work record with the City. Roger Roecker seconded the i motion. The motion was approved unanimously. Jon Branson was requested to ensure that Elstad has workers compensation insurance. Jon Branson will get Mr. Cox's approval and coordinate the project once approved. Jon Branson will get two (2) bids for City Hall restrooms and front doors. He will provide the committee with a report at the February 11, 1994 meeting. i Martha Gillett reported that the self-evaluation is underway and she will provide a detailed report at the February 11, 1994 meeting. i Page 2 ADA Minutes i David Hoover is in the process of completing the Transition Plan and will provide a report at the February 11, 1994 meeting.
