Friendswood Bicycle Advisory Committee
Minutes
October 23, 1997
Members present:
Sidney Allbritton
Joe Tennison
Mel Measeles-Council Liaison
Yvette Reyes-Staff Liaison
1. Call to order. Meeting began at 7.40 p.m.
2. Report from Chair. Mr. Allbritton slated that he felt their was more support in years past
regarding bicycle issues and concerns. Mr.Measeles stated that their was more money
allotted at that time. Mr. Allbritton would like to know what can generate support.
Mr. Tennison followed up by saying that bicycling was in at the right time when they got
support. Mr. Allbritton talked about the Clear Lake Transportation Partnership group and
the need to get involved with this group.He stated that the next meeting will be held on
December 9.
3. Mr. Measeles stated the goal of making a map for city's current bike route. The committee
requested a bike route map. Ms. Reyes stated that she would draft a memo to Mr. Branson
in reference to this request.
4. Mr. Allbritton discussed the LAB report and request for resolution, which would allow for a
broad, general policy of direction for the city. Mr. Allbritton stated that a workshop to
discuss this resolution with city council would be held on November 10.
5. The committee continued to stress the need for maintenance of FM 528 and FM 518. ne
committee would like to know what Texas Department of Transportation's or the city's
schedule of maintaining these areas are.
6. The committee asked for the following items to be placed in next month's agenda:
(1) map of bike routes,
(2) update on LAB,
(3)finalize bike logo,
(4) bike ride sub committee, and
(5) assigning committee members to different committees.
7. Next Meeting to be held on November 25, 1997 at 7.30 p.m.
8. Adjournment.
