COUNCIL CONVENED INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, PURSUAN7 TO 551.072, DEI�(BERAT(ON REGARDING REAL PROPERTY; NORTON PROPERTY, 108 W. SPREADING OAKS (NEXT TO LIBRARY) AND PROPERTY NEXT TO WATER TREATMENT PLANT - TAKE POINT, ON BLACKHAWK BLVD. A SHORT BREAK WAS TAKEN AT THIS TIME. COUNCIL CONVENED INTO REGULAR SESSION AT 7:00 P.M. MAYOR WHITAKER CAL�ED THE MEETING TO �RDER. THE INVOCATION WAS GIVEN BY ASSOCIATE PASTOR DAN LOAIZA FROM CALVARY CHAPEL. MAYOR WHITAKER AND VICE-CHAIR OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION TOM BURKE CALLED A JOINT DOCKETED PUBLIC HEARING TO ORDER TO RECEIVE COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC, EITHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, REGARDING A REQUEST FOR A SPEGFIC USE PERMIT-MUSIC STUDIO, FOR PROPERTY I.00ATED AT 301 W. EDGEWOOD (FM 2351), SUITE 14, LOT 1, BLOCK 1, FRIENDSWOOD SUBDIVISION, GALVESTON COUNTY, TEXAS. MR. THOMAS EASTERLY, 334 DAWN HILL, APPLICANT, APPEARED BE�ORE COUNCIL AND EXPLAiNED THAT HIS BUSINESS HAS BEEN IN FRIENDSWOOD THE PAS7 THREE YEARS AND HE IS EXPANDING THE BUSINESS TO INCLUDE PIANO, VIOLiN, VOICE, AND GUITAR LESSONS. COUNCILMEMBER KIM BRIZENDINE REPORTED THAT HE AND CITY MANAGER COX MET WITH THE SAN JOAQUIN, MISSION ESTATES, SECTION 1, 2, AND 3, AND CARMEL VILLAGE HOMEOWNERS ON THE ISSUES OF THE CONSTRUCTION TRAFF{C ALONG THE SAN JOAQUIN PARKWAY, THE ADDITIONA� CAR VOLUME, AND THE FALSE RUMOR THAT THE PARKWAY WILL BECOME A THOROUGHFARE. COUNCILMEMBER BRIZENDINE STATED CITY MANAGER ADDRESSED THE ISSUES AND WILL CONTINUE TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES. MAYOR WHITAKER PRESENTED A PROCLAMATION FOR JUNE 5, 2000 "FRIENDSWOOD FILLIES DAY " IN HONOR OF THE FRIENDSWOOD FILLIES PARTICIPATION IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND AWARDS RECEIVED. DIRECTOR J. RIVES PRESENTED A PLAQUE AND T�SHIRTS TO THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF THE FILLIES. MR. DAN MORGAN, CHAIR OF THE FOURTH OF JULY STEERING COMMITTEE, APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL AND REPORTED THAT THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR'S CELEBRA710N WILL BE "DEFENSE OF FREEDOM", REPORTED ON THE PARADE, PARK ACTIVITIES, AND NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT, AND REPORTED THE GRAND MARSHAL WILL BE MEDAL OF HONOR WINNER MICHAEL THORNTON, REPORTED THAT THERE WILL BE THE ROTARY BAR-B-CUE BOOTH, AND THE EVENING PROGRAM WILL BE HELD AT 7:30 P.M. AT BROOKSIDE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL. MR. MORGAN INTRODUCED COMMITTEE MEMBERS, AND MR. KENNY KONCABA, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNITY BANK-FRIENDSWOOD, AND STATED THAT THE BANK WILL BE ONE OF THE UNDERWRITERS FOR THIS EVENT, AND MR. KONCABA PRESENTED THE MAYOR A CHECK FOR $5,000 CITY MANAGER COX REPORTED ON THE MAINSTREET TASK FORCE SPEAKERS AND TOUR AND THE MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY, MAY 31 2000 DURING WHICH THE TASK FORCE MET WITH THE TEXAS DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION (TDA) FOR A HALF•DAY SESSION OF BRAINSTORMING AND TOURING OUR MAINSTREET AREA. MR.
