FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITU7ING , A QUORUM: MAYOR HAROLD L. WHITAKER MAYOR PRO TEM MEL MEASELES ' ' COUNCILMEMBER KITTEN BRIZENDINE COUNCILMEMBER JERRY ERICSSON COUNCILMEMBER TOM MANISON CITY MANAGER RON COX CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE COUNCILMEMBERS BRIZENDINE AND TAYLOR WERE ABSENT FROM THE MEETING. MAYOR WHITAKER CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER. *�*COUNCILMEMBER KITTEN BRIZENDINE MOVED TO APPROVE THE FIRST AND FINAL READING OF ORDINANCE N0. T2000-13, AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE AND SALE OF $3,515,OQ0 WATERWORKS AND SEWER SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS, SERIES 2000; AND PROVIDING THE DETAILS RELATING THERETO. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER MANISON. THE MOTlON WAS APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. **COUNCILMEMBER MANISON MOVED TO APPROVE RE•ADOPTING RESOLUTION R2000-24, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DECLARING THE UNOPPOSED CANDIDATES FOR MAYOR AIVD COUNCILMEMSERS POS{TIOIV NOS. 1, AND 3 ELECTED; PROVIDING THAT THE MAY 6, 2000, GENERAL NIUNICIPAL OFFICERS ELECTION SHALL NOT BE HELD; CONTAINING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES. THE MOTION WAS APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. GALVESTON COUNTY JUDGE JIM YARBROUGH ADMINISTERED THE OATHS OF OFFICE FOR THE ,_. POSITIONS OF MAYOR � NAROLD L. WHITAKER, POSITION N0. 1 - COUNCILMEMBER KITTEN HAJECATE, AND P051TION N0. 3 - COUNCILMEMBER TOM MANISON. COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE THANKED HER DAUGHTER HEATHER AND HUSBAND JAMES FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND STATED THAT IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO SERVE AGAIN AS COUNCILMEMBER AND GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. COUNCILMEMBER MANISON THANKED THE CITIZENS OF FRIENDSWOOD AND HIS FAMILY AND S7ATEQ THAT A LOT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED AND THAT THIS IS THE BEST CHEMIS7RY COUNCIL COULD HAVE, THAT COUNCIL IS ACCEPTING CHALLENGES PREPARING THE CITY FOR BUILD OUT, AND THAT FRIENDSWOOD IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE DUE TO THE GREAT FOLKS MAKING THIS A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE. MAYOR WHITAKER ANNOUNCED THAT COUNCILMEMBERS BRIZENDINE AND TAYLOR WERE OUT THIS EVENING DUE TO PERSONAL COMMITMENTS. MAYOR WHITAKER STATED IT HAS BEEN A SHORT THREE YEARS, AND BEING MAYOR IS AN 5/9100 l � f � AWESOME TASK WITH A BIG RESPONSIBILITY. BUT THAT WITH A PROFESSIONA�STAFF AND CITY COUNCIL LOOKING AT ISSUES IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER, A LOT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED WITH MUCH MORE TO BE DONE. MAYOR WHITAKER THANKED EVERYONE �OR THEfR SUPPORT AND STATED HE IS HONORED TO BE ALLOWED TO SERVE AS MAYOR TO MOVE THE COMMUNITY FORWARD THE WAY THE CITIZENS AND COMMUNITY EXPECT AND DESERVE.
