AND VIEWED DETENTION PONDS CONCEPT IN PHILADELPHIA, THE REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS MEETING IN CARMEL, AND STATED THAT HE IS LOOKING FOR NOMINEES FOR THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL SOLID WASTE REGIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEE. COUNCII1rfEMSER ERICSSON REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE CONflriCTNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONA4ITTEE MEETING, AND STATED THAT INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD THIS WEEK AND NEXT FOR AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINiATOR, AND REPORTED THAT IN THE JUNE 7, 1999 EDITION OF 5PORTS ILLUSTRATED, 1994 FRIENDSWOOD GE21�.DUATE SCOTT WILLIAM.SON, WHO IS A PITCHER FOR THE CINCINNATI REDS IS FEATURED. CQUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE PRAYER BREAKFAST, THE RIBBON CUTTING AT BAY AREA BOULEVARD, AND REPORTED THE MUSCUI.AR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION "JAILBIRD" FUNDRAISER WAS A SUCCESS AND THAT OVER $10,000 WAS RAISED AND THANKED CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE FOR HER PARTICIPATI013 WITH THE M.D.A. FUNDRAISER. COUNCII.MEMBER MEASELES REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING, THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING, THE BAY AREA BOULEVARD RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY, AND WILL ATTEND THE CITY OF GALVESTON EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT MEETING REGARDING HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS, AND STATED THAT THE CONCERTS IN THE PARK ARE FIRST CLASS ANn THAT BRASS RHYTHM AND REEDS WILL BE PLAYING THIS FRIDAY. COUNCILMEMBER MANISON REPORTED THAT A CORPS OF ENGINEERS MEETING WILL BE HELD JUNE 10 AT 10:00 AM IN GALVESTON EXTENDING REGARDING THE PROJECT INTO BRAZORIA COUNTY. MAYOR WHITAKER REPORTED ON ATTENDING CEREMONIES AT BALES INTERMEDIATE REGAEZDING WHERE STUDENTS WENT TO WASHINGTON, D.C. AND RECEIVED A FLAG FROM CONGRESS AND PRESENTED THE FLAG TO THE NEW PRINCIPAL OF WINDSONG SCHOOL WITH SENATOR NICK I�P,MPSON. **COUNCIIMEMBER MANISON MOVED TO APPROVE THE APPOINTMENTS OF CITY COUNCIL LIAISONS TO COMMITTEES AS PRESENTED BY MAYOR WHITAKER. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE. THE MOTION WAS APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. MR. WAYNE GOTSCH, 63 ELDORADO, APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO EXPRESS CONCERNS REGARDING FLOODING, DRAINAGE, AND, REQUESTING PERMITS CEASE UNTIL THE DETENTION POND IS BUILT TO HANDLE THE FLOW, AND STATED PROPERTIES IN THE FRONT OF THE SUBDIVISION ARE BUILT UP WHICH CAUSES FLOODING, REQUESTED DRAINAGE DITCHES BE CLEANED OUT AND STATED HE HAS ASKED FOR CLEAN OUT FOR NUMEROUS YEARS, STATED THAT IN 1994 OR 95 A WATER LINE WAS PUT IN BY DRAINAGE DISTRICT, AND THE FILL NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED OVER ALL FOR BETTER DRAINAGE. MAYOR WHITAE�R STATED THAT FiE WILL REFER THIS TO THE CObII�2UNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT AND REQUESTED AN UPDATE BE GIVEN REGARDING CAPITAL PROJECTS, AND DRAINAGE PROJECTS FOR THE AREA. MS. KATF3Y HALE, 902 APPLEWOOD, APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL TO EXPRESS HER CONCERNS REGARDING THE CURFEW ORDINANCE AND STATED TIiAT SHE RESENTS THAT THE CITY SHOULD TELL HER WHAT TIME HER CHILDREN SHOULD BE HOME, PRESENTED INFORMATION REGARDING THE FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS AND PRESENTED STATISTICS FROM OTHER STATES. CITY MANAGER COX REPORTED THAT THE ACTIVITY BUILDING IS COMPLETE AND THAT THE SENIOR PROGRAM HAS MOVED BACK INTO THE BUILDING AS OF LAST FRIDAY AND AN OPEN HOUSE AND DEDICATION ARE BEING PLANNED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. MR. COX REPORTED THAT THE CITY WILL PARTICIPATE IN FISD' S VITAL LINK PROGRAM THIS WEEK DURING WHICH THREE SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS WILL GET A FIRST HAND VIEW OF THE WORK THE CITY DOES IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT AREAS INCLUDING PUBLIC WORKS, INSPECTIONS, AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. MR. COX ALSO REPORTED ON INSURANCE FOR THE CITY AND THAT DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES ROGER ROECKER' S REPORT CONFIRMS THAT OTHER AGENTS CHARGE THE SAME PREMIUM AND THAT A CHANGE IS NOT RECONII�NDED. TRUMAN TAYIAR INSURANCE WILL REMAIN THE INSURANCE PROVIDER FOR THE PROVISION OF COVERAGE FOR BONDS, NOTARIES, FLOOD INSURANCE ON CERTAIN BUILDINGS AND RESEARCH WILL BE CONTINUED FOR COSTS FOR THE FRIENDSWOOD VOLUNTEER FZRE DEPARTMENT DISABIT,ITY COVERAGE. **COUNCII,MEMBER MEASELES MOVED TO APPROVE ACTION REGARDING ANNIJAL REPORT AND AUTHORIZING CONTRACT RENEWAL WITH GALVESTON COUNTY ECONOMIC DE�IELOPMENT ALLIANCE. ACTIVITY BUILDING RENOVATION WITH THE SEVENTH PAYMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $826. 98 TO HALL/BARNUM ARCHITECTS FOR DESIGN SERVICES DURING APRIL. CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION SERVICES ARE 25 PERCENT COMPLETE. 3. SUNSET DRIVE TRAFFIC SIGNALS WITH THE FIRST AND SECOND PAYMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,676.00 TO TRAFFIC ENGINEERS, INC. FOR PLANS, SPECS AND CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT SERVICES DURING MARCH AND APRIL THE PROJECT IS 74 PERCENT COMPLETE. 4. BLACKHAWK/FM2351 WATERLINE REPLACEMENT WITH THE SECOND PAYMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $91,763.55 TO KINSEL INDUSTRIES, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PER BID 99-1. THE PROJECT IS 37 PERGENT COMPLETE. RETAINAGE IS TEN PERCENT. 5. FRIENDSWOOD HIGH SCHOOL WATERI,INE REPLACEMENT WITH THE FIRST AND FINAL PAYMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $27,921.80 TO DAVID WIGHT CONSTRUCTION. , INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION SERVICES TO RELOCATE 12" WATERLINE. TOTAL PAYMENTS WERE $161,921.60. B. DISPOSITION OF BIDS - 1.
