CONCERN REGARDING DRAINAGE I�ND TR.AFFIC PROBLEM THE PROPOSED REZONING AT 1408
S. FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE WILL RESULT IN, STATED THAT HE LIVES BEHIND THIS
PROPERTY AND THAT IiIS LOT IS A LOW SPOT BEHIND THIS PROPERTY, STATED THAT
THE SUNWOOD SUBDIVISION CREATED FLOODING ANU THA.T COUNCIL SHOULD BE
CONCERNED WITH DRAINAGE AND WHERE SEWAGE IS PL.ANNED AND THAT HE DOES NOT
HAVE CONFIDENCE ZN THE PLANNING FOR THIS PROJECT.
MR. BOB BERTRADiD, 16507 BQUGAINVILLA, APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL WARNING ABOUT
THE YEAR 2000 AND STATED THERE SHOULD BE PLANNING AND PREPARATION AND STATED
THAT THERE IS INFORMATION ON THE WEB SITE THAT WILL PROVIDE LITERATURE TO
THE CITY ON THE PROCESS OF PLANNING AND PREPP.RATION.
MAYOR WHITAKER AND CITY MANAGER COX THANKED MR. BERTRAND AND ADVISED THE
CITY HAS BEGTTN PLANNING FOR THIS TRANSITION.
CITY MANAGER COX REPORTED ON THE MEETING WITH TIME WAR23ER CABLE AND FISD
WHICH WAS HELD ON DECEMBER 10 AND THAT NOTICE HAS BEEN SENT FROM TCI CABLE
CORPORATION ANNOUNCING THAT TIME WARNER CABLE WILL TAKE OVER THE OPERATION
OF TCI IN THE HOUSTON AREA ON JANUARY 31. MR. COX REPORTED ON THE MEETING
WITH NEWLY-ELECTED COUNTY COMMISSIONER KEN CLARK ON DECEMBER 10 DURING WHICH
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING FUNDING FOR CENTENNIAL PARK, WORK ON STREETS
AND DRAINAGE, AND FACILITY NEED IN FRIENDWOOD. MR. COX ALSO REPORTED UN
MEETING WITH JOHN IVEY OF HALFF ASSOCIATES, REGARDING THE FEMA FUNDEL'
COMMUNITX ASSESSMENT VISIT WHICH WILL INCLUDE A REVIEW OF THE EXISTING FLOOD
PLAIN MAP, A REVIEW OR THE CITIES' FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION EFFORTS,
(FRIENDSWOOD HAS A COMMUNITY RATING SYSTEM RATING OF 8) AND A REVIEW OF THE
REPETITIVE LOSSES FOR FLOOD DAMAGE IN FRIENDSWOOD AND STATED THAT MR. IVEY
INDICATED THAT FEMA INTENDS TO COMPLETELY REDRAW THE FLOOD PLAIN MAP FOR ALL
OF GALVESTON COUNTY. MR. COX ALSO REPORTED THAT THE CLEAN UP AT THE WASTE
SITE ON FM 518 HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND WILL BE INSPECTED NEXT WEEK AND A
FINAL REPORT WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE CITY.
COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY ASKED HOW THE CITY GOT A COMMUNITY RATING SYSTEM RATING
OF 8 WITH CITY MANAGER EXPLAINING THE IN DEPTH PROCESS.
COUNCILMEMBER BRIZENDINE ASKED HOW THE R.ATING SYSTEM AFFECTS THE CITY WITH
CITY MANAGER COX STATING THAT AT EACH JUNCTURE AS THE NLIMBER LOWER5, TIiIS
AFFECTS THE FLOOD ZONE.
COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES ASKED ABOUT THE ACTTVITY BUILDING AND TIME
RESTRICTION ON THE GRANT FUNDS WITH CITY MANAGER COX RESPONDING THESE GRANT
FUNDS MUST BE SPENT WITHIN TWO YEARS, AND THAT THERE ARE MORE TIME
CONSTRAINTS WITH THE BIDS. COTTNCILMEMBER MEASELES ASKED IF FiARRIS COUNTY
HAS BEEN CONTACTED WITH CITY MANAGER COX RESPONDING YES, BUT THE CITY HAS
NOT RECEIVED ALL THE INFORMATION, A LETTER WAS WRITTEN AND RECEIVED A
RESPONSE TO CHECK ON A LEAD FOR A GRANI'.

COMPLETION IN A MANNER THAT RESPONDS TO THE COMMLTNITY AND NATURAL VALUES OF
