COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES REPORTED ON ATTENDING THS PLANNING ANV ZONING MEETING, AND REPORTED ON THS CONII+IITTEE R13TREAT PLANNED FOR OCTOBER 26, 1998. COUNCILMEMBER DICKSY REPORTED ON ATT$NDING THE CLEAR LAKS TRANSPORTATION PARTNERSHIP MEETING DURING WHICH A UNIFORM LANDSCAPING PROGRAM WAS PRESF3NTED. COUNCILMEMSER ERICSSON REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE PARK SIIBDIVISION HOMEOWNERS'S ASSOCIATION MELTING DURING WHICH FLOODING WAS DISCUSSED, ATTENDI3D THE VISION 2020 MEETING, AND REPORTED THAT HE IS GLAD THAT THE PIPELINE SAFETY COMMITTEE IS MEETING AGAIN. COUNCILMEI�ffiER HAJECATE REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE SEPTEMBER 30 TOWN HALL MEETING DURING WHICH SENATOR BUSTER BROWN AND SENATOR MIKE JACKSON SPORE ON TRANSPORTATION, THE ENVIRONMENT, NASA FUNDS, AND SAFE3TY. MAYOR WfiITAKSR REPORTED THAT HS MET WITH THE PIPELINE CO1�i2TTEE AND THSY WILL BEGIN WORK ON GOALS AND OBJFCTIVBS, AND REPORTED THAT COUNCILMEMBER MANISON WAS ATTBNDING THE ALAMO COUNCIL OF GOVERNMLNTS LEGISLATIV$ MEETING 1 10/5/98 � �'' � 3 �� REGARDING WATER AND SOIL CONSERVATION AND THAT COUNCILMEMBBR MANISON WILL BE A SPEAKER AT THIS MSETING, AND RBPORTED THAT COIINCILMSI�BR BRIZENDINE WAS OUT OF TOWN ON BUSINESS. CAROL JONES, EXECIITIVS DIRECTOR OF TH8 CHAMBER OF CObII��RCE, APPEARED BEFORS COUNCIL AND INTRODIICED MEMBSR OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. MS. JONES ALSO DISCUSSED HOW THE CHAMBER HBLPS BUSINESSES IN THE CO1�1'UNITY BY PROMOTING LOCAL SPENDING, STATED TIiE CHAMBER HAS DONS AN SXCF3LLENT JOB REPRESENTING THE COMMUNITY, STATED A CONCERN WITH THE EMPTY BUSINESS BUILDINGS AND THAT THE COUNCIL SHOULD LOOK AT HOW TO ATTRACT NEW BUSINESSES, AND TH}3 CHAMBER URGED EVI3RYONE'S SUPPORT OF LOCAL BUSINSSSES. CITY MANAGER COX RBPORTED ON THE CLEAR CREER DRAINAGE DISTRICT DUSCUSSIONS AND THAT THL REVISED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT AND ORDINANCE SHOULD BE READY FOR THE OCTOBER 19 AGENDA, REPORTED THAT THE PIPBLINE SAFETY COMMITTEE IS MBETING AGAIN IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE GOALS OF THE COMMITTEE TIiEY HAD IN ADDITION TO THOSE RSLATED TO THE BXXON PIPELINS. MR. COX STATLD THAT SIX OF THE SEVEN ORIGINAL CO1rRriITTEE MEMBERS HAVE AGREED TO SERVE AGAIN. THOSE SIX ARE BEN MALSK, MARY BETH EDEEN, RALPH BLAUGH, ROBERT BLUDtiVORTH, CLAYTON STEVENS, AND DAVIS TOWNS$ND. MR. COX ALSO R$PORTED ON THE DEVELOPMENT REVIEW COI�SITTI3E AND THAT THIS CONII�tITTEE HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO STREAMI�INE THE DEVSLOPMENT AND PERMITTING PROCESS. **CODNCILMEMSLR HAJ}3CATI3 MOVED TO DENY THE REQUEST FOR SBTTLEMENT OF CIIRRSNT R.ATS ORDRR TO TCI CABLEVISION OF HOUSTON, INC. SECONDED BY CODNCILMEMBER MEASELES. THE MOTION WAS APPROV]3D UNANIMOUSLY **COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY MOVED TO DSNY REQUEST FOR STAY OF CURRBNTLY ORDERED RATES TO TCI CABLEVISION OF HOIISTON, INC. SECONDBD BY COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE. THE MOTION WAS APPROVI3D UNANIMOUSLY. **COUNCILMErIDER HAJECATE MOVSD TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R98-31, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, REQUESTING LBGISLATIVE ACTION PRgSERVING LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTHORITY TO SAVE TAXPAYER DOLLARS THROUGH COOPERATIVE PURCHASING PROGRAMS. SECONDBD BY COUNCILMEMBER MEASELES. THE MOTION WAS APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. **COUNCILMErffiER HAJSCATE MOVBD TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R98-32, A RESOLUTION OF TIiE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD DESIGNATING COUNCILMEMBER ALINE DICKEY AS REPRESENTATIVE AND COUNCILMEMBER TOM MANISON AS AN ALTERNATE FOR HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL GENERAL ASSEMBLY 1999. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER ERICSSON. THE MOTION WAS APPROVSD UNANIMOUSLY. NO ACTION WAS TAICEN REGARDING ORDINANCE NO. T98-30, FIRST READING OF AN ORDINANCE OF THL CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR THE TRANSFSR OF THE FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, CABLL TgLSVISION FRANCHISE FROM TCI TKR OF HOUSTON, INC. TO TEXAS CABLE PARTNI3RS, L.P. ; PROVIDING FOR A CHANGE IN ACTUAL WORKING CONTROL FROM TEXAS CABLE PARTNBRS, L.P. , TO TIME WARNER CABLE; PROVIDING FOR A CHANGE IN CONTROL FROM TELE-CONII�SLTNICATIONS, INC.
