TIiE HARRIS COUNTY MAYORS AND COUNCILS MEETING, REPORTED ON PARETICIPATING AS A JUDGE AT THE "50'S FEVER" FUND RAISER FOR THE "SUNSHINE KIDS", ATTENDED THE COASTAL REGIONAL MEETING FOR SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION, AND ATTENDED THE VISION 2020 MEETING I�ND RECEIVED A LOT OF VALUABLE INFORMATION. COUNCILMEI�ER BRIZENDINE REPORTED THAT TWO LA MARQUE COACHES WERE KILLED OVER THE WEEKBND AND OFFERED SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILIES. COUNCILMEMSER DICKEY REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE GALVESTON COUN'PY MAYOR'S AND COUNCILMEN'S ASSOCIATION MEETING, REPORTED ON THB CITY OF HOUSTON AND THE SPEED IiUMPS THAT WBRL CONSTRIICTED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, ATTENDFsD THE CLEAR LAKE TRANSPORTATION PARTNBRSHIP MELTING AIdD RBPORTED THAT METRO SERVICES WILL BEGIN IN FRIENDSWOOD, ATTENDBD TH13 JIM YARBROUGH GALA HONORING THE JUDGE AND FIIS WIFE CAROL, ATTENDED THE VISTON 2020 MBETING DURING WHICH A LOT OF INFORMATION WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENDING OF THE CITIZENS , AND RECENTLY COMPLBTED A 3 W$EK CITIZENSHIP IN TIiE CONII�S�JNITY WITH A BOY SCOUT TROOP. COUNCILMEMBER MEASELBS ALSO REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE VISION 2020 MEETING AND THANKED THE CITIZLNS FOR THEIR INPUT, ATTENDED THE BICYCLE ADVISORY COI�ASITTEE MEBTING, RLPORTED THAT ON OCTOBER 26, THERE WILL BE A MEETING OF ALL CITY C01rIl�tITTEES, AND REPORTSD THAT THERE IS A LARGE N[TMBSR OF VACANT LOTS WITH HIGH WEEDS AND DEBRIS AND ASKED THE CITY TO LOOK INTO TIiIS, AND ASKED THE CITIZENS HELP IN CLEANING UP THEIR LOTS. RENNY THAXTON, 1905 DESOTO, PRESIDENT OF THE FRIENDSWOOD SOCCER CLUB, APPEARED BSFORE COUNCIL REGARDING CENTENNIAL PARK AND SOCCSR FIELDS, AND STATED TIiAT THE THE CLUBS SUPPORT THE RECOL�II�SENDATION TO HAVE CARTER & BURGESS, INC, DO THE LAYOUT AND DESIGN FOR THIS PARK AND URGED COUNCIL TO PROCEED. MS. 1�,NN WOOD, 905 COWARDS CREEK, APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL REGARDING WATER AEROBICS 1�ND STATED THIS PROGRAM HAS BBNEFITED CITIZENS 16 TO 89 YEARS OLD IN THE PAST, AND ASKBD TTiE CITY TO LOOK INTO LEASING A HEATBD POOL ON SHADWBLL AND SUPPORT THE PROGRAM. CITY MANAGLR COX RSPORTED ON THE YEAR 2000 COMPLIANCE (Y2K) AND BOB MATLOCK, MIS COORDINATOR, HAS DSVELOPED A MSTHODICAL PROCESS FOR ANALYZING WORK RSSPONSIBILITIES, DOCUMENTING THE SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE, AND DEVELOPING A PLAN FQR COMPLIANCE WITH Y2K INTERNALLY. MR. COX ALSO REPORTBD THAT THE 9/28/98 � � � � CITY WILL BE CONTACTING ALL VSNDORS TO CONFIRM THEIR ABILITY TO ALSO BE IN - COMPLIANCE. MR. COX DISCUSSED WAS THE GULF COAST COALITION OF CITIES—TNP (GCCC) MEETING WHICH WAS IiELD SEPTEMBER 21, 1�,ND REPORTBD THAT BOB RIMA, IIPON AUTHORIZATION OF THE GCCC MSNiBERS, FILED A MOTION FOR REHSARING OF THE CASS BEFORE TH� PUC, AND THAT THE MEMBERS WILL MEET AGAIN NEXT WEEK TO DISCIISS THE COSE ISSUES INVOLVED WITA THIS CASE AND FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BL FORTHCOMING.
