COUNCILMEMBER AUSTIN REPORTED THAT HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THE
G.A.U. MEETTNG AT CAMP MANISON, THE CLEAR. CREEK DRAINAGE D][STRICT MEETING
AND VTEWED AN AERIAL MAP SURV�Y, ASKED THE CITY ATTORNEY KI:M MICKELSON TO
CHECK IF HE WOULD HAVE A CONFLTCT OP' INTEREST IF HE VOTES ON HOMER TUTTON'S
' PROJECT ADJACENT TO STERLINGWOOD SUBDIVISION, ATTENDED THE FRIENDSWOOD
THANKSGIVING FEAST AT FRIENDS CHURCFi AND STATED THAT OVER ].40 WERE SERVED
AND THAT THERE WERE A LOT OF VOLUNTEERS, AND REMTNDED EVERYONE THAT THE

CITY MANAGER COX REPORTED ON THE TEX1�S NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION
COMMISSION (TNRCC) ANNUAL INSPECTTON OF FRIENDSWOOD'S PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY
AND THAT FOR TIiE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW, THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT HAS
RECEIVED A PERFECT INSPECTION FROM TNRCC ON THE WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM.
MR. COX REPORTE:D THAT THE TNP RATE MEDIATION IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN ON
TUESDAY, NOVEMBE:R 25 . MR. COX REPORTED ON THE TEXAS EASTERN TRAN$MISSION
NATURAL GAS PIPI3LINE RIGHT OF WAY MAINTENANCE IS BEING CONDUCTED ON ITS
RIGHT OF WAY IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE CITY, PRIMAR.ILY IN THE DUNBAR
ESTATES AND VILL7�IGE GREEN SUBDIVISIONS IN THE FIFTX-FOOT RIGHT OF WAY BEHIND
SEVERAL BACK YAR.DS IN THESE AREAS. MR. COX ALSO REMINDED COUNCIL OF THE
EMPLOYEES CHRTSTMAS DINNER WHICH WILL BE HELD ON DECEMBER 12, 1997.

WITH CITY MANAGF�R COX RESPONDING 25 RANDOM SAMPLES AROUND THE CITY WERE
TAKEN BY THE GALVESTON COUNTY HEALTH DEPAF.2.TMENT. COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY ASKED
IF SAMPLES WERE TAKEN FROM SUNMEADOWS AND THE HASTINGS OIL FIELD WITH CITY
MANAGER COX RESPONDING THAT FiE DID NOT KNOW WHERE BUT IT WAS DISCUSSED TO
TAKE SAMPLES FOk TESTING FOR WATER PRO$L,EMS IN HASTINGS. MR. COX STATED
THAT THE STAFF REPORTED THAT THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEMS AND
THAT THE WATER :LS CHLORTNATED ON SITE AT THE WELL. COUNCILMEMBER DTCKEY
, --� ASKED IF THE CI'I'Y'S WATERS HAS BEEN CHLORINATED RESULTING IN THE GASEOUS
SMELL WITH CITY MANAGER COX STATING THAT TI-�ERE WAS PROBABLY SOME AERIATION
OF WATER IN AREAS WITH LONG-TERM PROBLEMS. COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY ASKED ABOUT
' THE CALLS RECEIVED REGARDING HYDRANTS BEING OPENED OVER THE HOLIDAY FOR �
MAINTENANCE WITH CITY MANAGER COX RESPONUTNG THAT HE WILL CHECK IT OUT.
COUNCILMEMBER DT(�KEY ASKED THE CITY MANAGER TO CHEC& WITH MEB CONTRACTORS
REGARDING THE CRP.,CKING TAKING PLACE ON WEST VIEJO.
COUNCILMEMBER AUf3TIN AUSTIN ASKED IF TNRCC CHECKS INTO THE DELTVERY SYSTEM
AND DO THEY LOOK AT THE PROCEDURES THAT WERE USED IN GETTING THE WATER
SAMPLES WITH CI".CY MAN'AGER COX STATING THAT THEY LOOK AT THE MECHANICAL
PROCEDURES.
COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY STATED THAT THE LAST TIME WATER WAS SAMPLED IN .
SUMMEADOW, THE CHLORINATION WAS FOUND TO BE VERY HIGH WITH CITY MANAGER COX
STATING THAT THE TESTING IS NOT STMPLE, THERE IS A MIXTURE OF WELL WATER AND
SURFACE WATER AND THAT SULPHUR IS NATURALLY IN THE WATER AND THAT WATER
TESTING IS NOT AN EASY SCIENCE.
