ROSENDAHL� REPORTED THAT 45 HOMES PARTICIPATED IN PROVIDING THESE DISTANCE MARKERS WHICH WILL BE INSTALLED AT THE TRACR AT STEVENSON PARK. PQS. ROSENDAHL STATED THAT SHE PRESENTED THIS IDEA TO COMMUNITY SERVTCES DIRECTOR JON BRANSON AND THEN HAD 2`HE IDEA APPROVED BY THE PARKS & RECREATION BOARD, WHO REQUIRED THE MARKERS BE MADE OF BRONZE. THE CTTY AGREED TO INSTALL THESE MARKERS ON A CONCRETE BASE. THREE MARKERS WILL BE ZNSTAT.,LED TNDICATING "START", "ONE-HALF MTLE" AND "ONE MILE." REPRESENTING TI�E CENTENNIAL COP�IMMITTEE, COUNCILMEMBER LOWE AND ON BEHALF OF CO-CHAIR PHYLL,IS LEE t�RESENTED THE FINAL REPORT :AND S'I'ATED THAT THE 1035 COMMITTEE HAS APPLIED FOR 1�N AWARD FROM T.R.A.P.S. , I�ND READ THE FOLLOWING REPORT. THE CEN'TENNIAL COMMITTEE HAS COMPLETED ITS WORK WITH THE PLACEMENT OF THE SHRUBBERY AROUND THE FLAG POLES AT CITY HALL. THIS CQNCLUDES A TWO-YEAR EFFORT ON THE PART OF THE COMMITTEE. AMONG THE PROJECTS THAT THE CENTENNIAL COMMI:TTEE COMPLETED WERE THE "WALK OF THE CENTURY", WALL HANGINGS, LANDSCAPING, FI,AG POLES, AND APPROVED A REQUEST FROM THE CITY SECRETARY' S OFFICE FOR AN AGENDA TABLE TO BE PLACED IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, AND IF THERE WERE ANY FUNDS LEFT OVER, TO BE USED FOR ANNUALS IN STEVENSON PARK. THE MEMBI�RS OF THE CENTENNTAL COI�IMITTEE WERE COUNCILMEMBERS JANIS LOWE AND KITTEN HAJECATE, LEO BRAUN, PATSY RAUCH, CHARLES KIRKLIN, "' I�AURIE WHITEHEAD, ED HARRIS, MARY ELLEN BELLARD, PHYI,LIS LEE, HUBERTA MORA, JERRY SMITH, ANN WOOD, JOYCE BAKER, ADVISORY MEMBER, RND CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE, STAFF. **MAYOR NEWMAN MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THE FINAL REPORT FROM THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE A.ND EXPRESSED HER APFRECIATION ON BEHALF OF THE COMMUNITY AND THE CITIZENS OF FRIENDSWOOD. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER MANISON. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. CITY MANAGER COX REPORTED ON THE KEY RATE REPORT FROM THE TEXAS FIRE COMMISSION AND STATED FRIENDSWOOD HAS PROTECTED STATUS AND THAT THE KEY RATB GF 24` CENTS WILL BEGIN IN FEBRUARY, 1997 AND THAT HOMES VALUED AT $100,000 WILL EXPERIENCE A $90.00 DECREASE IN FIRE INSURANCE. MR. COX EXPRESSED HIS APPRECTATION TO THE �TAFF AND TO THE FIRE MARSHA'L'S OFFICE, PUBLIC WORKS, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND THE SENI0�2 FIRE DEPARTMENT MEMBERS. CITY MANAGER COX ALSO REPORTED ON SPEED HUMP:i AND THAT THE CITY HAS RECEIVED EIGHT REQUESTS FOR SPEED HUMPS FOR THE EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAM APPROVED BY COUNCIL FOR FY96•-97. CHIEF S�OUT WILL BE PROCESSING THESE IN DECEMBER AND JANUARY FOR A RECOMMENDATION ON WHICH AREA TO IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM. MR. COX REPORTED THAT HE AND KENNY KONCABA, TNP AREA MANAGER, HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED INDUSTRIAL PLANT SITE CONSULTANT REPORT ON HIS PERCEPTION OF THE CLEAR LAKE AREA AS WELL AS WHAT HF. BELIEVE M11KES A GOOD SITE FOR INDUSTRY TO LOCATE IN THE AREA. ZONING WAS CONSIDERED A PLUS, IN HIS OPINION, THAT MAJOR COMPANIES ARE INTERESTED IN PROTECTING � THEIR SITES AND THEIR EMPLOYEES WITH PROPER �AND USE AND FRIENDSWOOD IS � ^ THE `ONLY CITY IN THE CLAEDF MEMBERSHIP WITF1 ZONING. MR. COX ALSO DTSCUSSED CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 TO CONTRACT F'OR RANCHO VIEJO SEWER SERVICE AND STATED THAT THIS CHANGE ORDER REFLECT�> A DECREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,370. THE LAST TTEM MR. COX REPORTED ON WAS THE EMPLOYER NEW HIRE REPORTING PROGRAM AND THAT THE STATE OFI�'ICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL RECENTLY CONVEYED A CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION FOR FRIENDSWOOD'S PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROGRAM WHICH IS DESIGNED TO IDENTIFY PARENTS OF CHILDREN NOT RECEIVING BENEFITS ACCORDING TO COURT ORDERS. FRIENDSWOOD PARTICIPATES TO THE EXTENT THAT THE CITX REPORTS I3EWLY HIRED EMPI,OYEES TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL`S OFFICE AND THEY CONIPARE THAT TO THEIR RECORDS. COUNCILMEMBER LOWE ASKED RBOUT THE EMPLOYEE NEW HIRE PROGRAM AND THE POLICE QUESTIONNI�IRE RESPONSES WITH CITY MANAGER COX STATING THAT THE QUESTIONNAIRES ARE COMING IN FkOM SEVERAL I�IREAS AND WILL BE COMPILED AND URG�D EVERYONE TO COMPLETE THE QUESTIONNAIRE. COUNCILMEMBER LOWE ASKED ABOUT THE SEPARATION OF ASPHALT 1�T SHADOW BEND AND MR.
