COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE GALVESTON COUNTY MAYORS; AND COUNCILS' MEETING ON S�PTEMBER 11 IN TEXAS CITY AND AT WHICH TIME SENATOR -- JERRY PATTERSON'S RESOLUTION WAS READ REGARDING AUTOMATIC ADUI�T STATUS, WITH NO ACTION TAKEN, ATTENDED A SUBCOMMTTTEE PARKS BOARD — USERr FEES MEETING, ATTENDED THE CANDIDATES NIGHT MEETING FOR LOCAL AND STP;TE CANDIDATES AND STATED THAT THE TURN OUT WAS LOW, ATTENDED THE CHAMBER'S `.PRADE SHOW AND STATED THAT FOR THIS EVENT, THERE WAS A GOOD TURNOUT. COUNCILMEMBER LOWE REPORTED ON ATTENDING THE PLANNING AND ZON:CNG MEETING AND THAT A SUBCOMMITTEE WILL BE REPORTING SOON, ATTENDED THE PARKS BOARD MEETING, ATTENDED "OPERATTON KICK IT" AT FRIENDSWOOD HIGH SCHOOL ON SEPTEMBER 10, COMMENDED GALVESTON COUNTX'S RESPONSE TO PLEAS FOR MOSQUI�`0 SPRAYING, ANNOUNCED THE BID OPENING FOR REST ROOMS FOR OLD CI'.I'Y PARK WILL BE TOMORROW , GALVESTON COUNTY REPUBLICAN'S WHISTLE STOP WAS HELD AT UNIPLEX, INVITED EVERYONE TO ATTEND THE TOWN MEETING REGARDING THE PARKS IN FRIENDSWOOD, AND ANNOUNCED THAT SHE WAS PLEASED TO SERVE OPT THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES' CRIME PREVENTION 11ND Pi7�I�IC SAFETY COMMITTEf�, AND REPORTED THAT TERRY BYRD WAS APPOINTED CI-IAIR OE' THE LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING CONIMITTEE FOR GALVESTON COUNTY. PATRICIA :tOSENDAHL APPEARED BEFORE COUNCIL AND REPORTED ON THE MUNICIPAL COURT'S EFFORTS TO COLLECT A FINI? FROM HEI: SON. MS. ROSENDAH'L REPORTED THAT HER SON RECEIVED A WARRANT FOR A T'INE TI-IAT WAS ISSUED IN 199Q. SHE STATED THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS FINE WAS PAID, SF�E F{AS RECEI��ED NUMEROUS DEMANDS FOR PAYMENT. THE STATEMENT WAS A THREE PART STATEMENT — DON'T RAISE TAXES, DON'T RAZSE SEWER RATES, AND HAVE THE CITY MANAGER ALLOW THE DEPARTMENT HEADS REDUCE THE BUDGET. MR. COX ALSO R�PORTEI7 THAT HE HAS BEEN ASKED BY FRANK STURZL, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF TML, TO PARTICIPATE WITH HIM A�ID APPROXIMATELY 15 OTHERS IN A COMMITTEE TO ASSIST SENATOR JERRY PATTERSON AND REPRESENTATIVE MARK STILES IN THEIR EFFORT TO DETERMINE WHETHER TO SUB�'!IT A BILL AND THEN, IF THIS IS DETERMINED, TO DRAFT A BILL TO INSTITUTE RETAIL COMPETITION IN THE ELECTRIC INDUSTRY IN TEXA:>. COUNCILMEMBER LOWE ALSO STATED THAT THE MINUTES FROM THE FRIENDSWOOD PARKS AND RECREATON BOARD ARE SPORADIC AND ASKED HOW TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND PERHAPS STAFF OR A VOLUNTEER BE ASSIGNED THIS TASK. COUNCIZMEMBER LO��,TE AZSO REPORTED THAT ON PAYING TRAFFIC TICKETS, AT PRESENT THE PEOPLE ARE TAKEN BACK INTO THE OFFICE AND SUGGESTED THAT THIS BE HANDLED BY THE CASHIER. DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATI'VE SERVICES ROGER ROECKER SAID THAT THIS IS HANDLED E�X THE COURT CLERK FOR PRIVACY OF THE OFFENDER. COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY REPORTED THAT PEOPLE ARE GIVEN TICKETS F'OR PARKING ON WINDSONG DURING �OCCER GAMES AND 5AID THE:RE IS NO PLACE TO PARK DURING RAINY DAYS AND THAT THE AREA SEEMS TO BE TARGETED ON SEVERAL SATURDAYS AND THAT THTS SHOWS POOR SPIRTT ON THE SIDE OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND SUGGESTED TO THE CIT'Y MANAGER THAT IN THE FUTURE NOT TO L�EAN IN THAT AREA UNTIL A PARKING AREA I S DEVELOPEI). �'� COUNCILMEMBER DICKEY ALSO REPORTED THAT THE RANCHO VIEJO SEWER CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR WAS BT,OCKING THE ROADWAY AND WANTS A LETTER OF REGRET �ENT TO THE RESIDENTS AND CI�.I'Y MANAGER COX REPORTED THAT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS MELVIN MEINECKE HAS REQIJESTED A LETTER FROM CHARLIE BEERE. COUNCILMEMBER LOWE STATED THAT THE MEB CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TREES AND MELVIN METNE:CKE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CUTTING THEM BACK AND CITY MANAGER COX STATED THAT THE CONTRACTOR IS AWARE �F CONCERNS OF DAMAGE THAT HAS BEEN DONE TO THE TREES. **COUNCILMEMBER LOWE MOVED TO APPROVE THE COMMERCIAL SITE PLAN FOR PRETS LUMBER AND HARDWARE TO BE LOCATED ON F'M 528 AIVD SUNSET.
