INF,ORMATION WAS PROVIDED THAT SOME CITIE� ARE BEGINNING TO ADOPT ORDINANCES
PRUHIBITING THE USE AND POSSESSION OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS AMONG MINORS WITH
ALV,IN AND FREEPC)RT HAVING RECENTLY PASSED ORDINANCES REGULATING THE USE OF
TOB'ACCO PRODUCTS AMONG MINORS. CHIEF S`.['OUT PROUIDED INFORMATION REGARDING
THE LAW THAT WA5 ENACTED BY THE TEXAS LEC�ISLATURE TO MAKE IT ILLEGAL TO SELL
TOBACCO PRODUCTS TO PERSONS UNDER EIGHTEEN. TEXAS D.A.R.E. DEVELOPED AN
ANTI-TOBACCO CURRICULUM FOR USE IN SCHOOLS AND REPORTED FREEPORT AND ALVIN
HAV�E ADOPTED ORDINANCES TO MAKE THE POSSESSION OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS BY A
PERSON UNDER 1�S A MISDEMEI�NOR, PUNISHABLE EITHER B� FINE: OR COMMUNITY
SERVICE OR IAN FDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ON THE HEALTH IMPACTS 0�' TOBACCO USE.

POSSESSION OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS AND WORKSHOPPING WITH THE SC'HOOL DISTRICTS
WITH INPUT FROM MINORS. COUNCIL CONCURRED WITH CHTEF STOUT'S RECOMMENDATION
TO �F20CEED WITH PREPARATION OF AN ORDINANCE WITH THE FINE TO BE WORKED OFF
WITH COMMUNITY SERVICE OR THE EDUCATION OPTION.
