AT FRIENDSWOOD CITY HALL, COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 109 WILLOViIICK, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS WITH THE FOLLOWING .PRESENT � CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: � r z MAYOR EVELYN B. NEWMAN MAYOR PRO-TEM TOM MANISON COUNCILMEMBER KITTEN HAJECATE COUNCILMEMBER MEL MEASELES CUUNCILMEMBER ALINE DICKEY CUUNCILMEMBER JANIS LOWE CITY MANAGER RON COX i CTTY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE MAYOR NEWMAN CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER. MAYOR NEWMAN CALLED FOR A MOMENT OF SILENCE IN REMEMBRANCE OF V.E. DAY 50 YEARS AGO. � i CITY MANAGER COX GAVE THE INVOCATION. , , MR. MICHAEL WHITTENBURG, CANDIDATE FOR POSITION 4, EXPRESSED HIS APPRECIATION FOR HIS CAMPAIGN SUPPORTERS AND THOSE THAT VOTED FOR HIM, i CONGRATULATED MEL AUSTIN AND JANIS LOWE ON BEING ELECTED AND STATED HE LOOKS FORWARD TO SERVING ON THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION AND STAYING , ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY. MR. CHARLES JORDAN, CANDIDATE FOR POSITION 6 THANKED HIS SUPPORTERS, CONGRATULATED COUNCILMEMBER LOWE AND THANKED HER FOR HER CAMPAIGN BASED ON ISSUES. MR.. JORDAN STATED HE LOOKS FOFtWARD TO THE COUNCIL WORKING TOGETHER. **COUNCILMEMBER MANISON MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION NO. R95-19, A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL . ELECTION HELD UN MAY 6, 1995, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING TWO (2) COUNCILMEMBERS FOR THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, WITH A TOTAL OF 2,156 VOTES CAST, WITH MEL AUSTIN RECEIVING 1407 VOTES AND MICHAEL WHITTENBURG RECEIVING 706 VOTES FOR COUNCIL POSITION 4 AND JANIS LOWE RECEIVING 1231 ��°� AND CHARLES M. JORDAN RECEIVING 892, WITH MEL AUSTIN BEING ELECTED TO , POSITION 4 AND JANIS LOWE BEING ELECTED TO POSITION 6. ' ; COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. ; 676 MAYOR NEWMAN, ON BEHALF OF TI�E CI:TY THANKED THE �UDGE AND CLERKS FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THE CITY ON ELECTION DAY. THE OATH OF OFFICE WAS ADMINISTERED BY JUDGE JIM WOLTZ T.0 MEL AUSTIN, POSITION 4, AND JANIS LOWE, POSITION 6. MAYOR NEWMAN THANKED EVERYONE FOR ,ATTENDING AND INVITED E��ERYONE TO THE , RECEPTION IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE MEETING. HIS SUPPORTERS FOR THEIR HARD WORK DURING HIS CAMPAIGN AND STATED HE IS EXCITED ABOUT SERVING ON COUNCIL AND LOOKS FORWARD TO THE CHALLENGE AHEAD.
